I want to warn everyone not to go ahead with AA Warranty – it’s absolutely useless. They don’t help in any way, and their service is shocking.
My car has now been off the road for seven weeks, during which three different parts have been replaced by AA, yet the main issue is still there. The car is now completely undriveable. They’ve ruined my car by fitting non-genuine parts, and I’ve had to take it to the main dealership myself – paying extra – just to confirm that the parts AA fitted weren’t genuine.
AA refuses to take any responsibility and won’t cover the cost of proper replacement parts. Instead, they keep sending me back to a garage that’s clearly understaffed and incapable of fixing the issue.
Trying to speak to a manager is a joke – apparently, they’re always in meetings and never available. I’ve submitted three formal complaints, and now I’ve had to escalate the matter further because this whole situation is beyond ridiculous.
AA Warranty is a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the stress and go with a company that actually values its customers and provides genuine support.

On Friday morning, I dropped my car off for diagnostics. After an hour and a half, I received an email saying the diagnostics would be completed on Monday. I wasn't given any information about how long it would take before I dropped it off. No one seemed interested in whether I needed the car, and there was no way to get a courtesy car. The claim isn't over yet, so I'll keep you updated on what the next few days bring.
Monday
I've lost £200 so far on Monday. Doctor's appointment (taxi), Friday off, and short work on Monday. I'm still waiting for any news.
At 4 p.m. on October 13th, it turned out that the booking company (Prestige Car Servicing) I was working with was completely disinterested in my case and blamed the diagnostic authorization on the workshop(Prestige Auto Solutions)and me, as they should have authorized the diagnostics.
14/10/25
The diagnostics weren't completed and they returned the car to me after four days. I'll have another diagnostic on October 22, 2025, and we'll see what happens.

Another lost money due to diagnostics due to my reduced time at work. I picked up the car. Nothing was checked. Prestige Auto Solutions Eaton Socon not recommended
I need to schedule another diagnostic appointment. We'll see what happens.

Another garage refused to diagnose and repair my car. It turns out AA Warranty has nothing to do with extended warranties. Opteven handles everything for them, and the name (AA Warranty) looks good. Garage number 3 from the list, we'll see what happens.

Still £72 out of pocket!!
Claim made on 8th September, and arranged to drop car into garage on 11th at 8am. That bit went well, though the garage warned me it can take a few days to approve the repair.
I got a text and email from Prestige on 12th saying my car would be ready that day, unless I hear differently. As that was a Friday and I was at work I couldn't collect it, so I left work early on the Monday (15th) to pick it up.
When I got to the garage, they said they performed the diagnostic and submitted the details on 11th, but it hadn't been approved for them to work on it yet, so wasn't done! 35 minutes on the phone, getting put through to 6 different people in various warranty departments, I gave up and decided to just take my car back. The garage then charged me £72 for the diagnostic, as the warranty still wasn't approved, and I had to pay as they wouldn't release my car until I did.
Multiple phone calls later, and I get contacted on 24th to say my claim is now fully approved, including the diagnostic costs, and I can book my car in again. The issue though is neither the garage nor the AA are interested in refunding my £72, the garage say they can't, and to be honest it's not their issue, and neither the AA nor anyone else can be bothered to respond to me. My car is finally booked in for 30th, hopefully the issue will be fixed and then I'll go down the court route to get my £72, plus interest, plus costs back.
I'm reviewing this as the AA sent me a mail, asking me to do so as my claim is complete....farcical!!
Update: I took my car to the garage on 30th, and yet again the AA failed! They sent the wrong part, twice, even when the garage told them the correct part number. I've got my car back, unfixed and still £72 down!!

Terrible service, unclear what items are/aren’t covered, really not worth the paper it’s written on.
Don’t bother!

I had an emissions issue with my Citroen after having the diagnostic review at a local garage dealing with Citroen vehicles. I was told is was a nox sensor issue that would require replacing to resolve the issue.
I checked my policy with AA Warranty to see if covered and whilst I could find specific reference to nox sensors I rang the helpline and spoke to Chris who was so helpful, professional and very efficient. He looked at my policy and confirmed it would be covered and was also able to confirm the garage that did the diagnostics was an approved AA garage. He then sent the garage an email and cc’d me to advise the work was covered under the warranty. It went in next day and was fully fixed with no cost to me.
When you buy a warranty you’re never sure if it’s going to be worth it and if it’s going to be a lot of hassle. I can definitely say it was very much worth having and if Chris is typical of the staff dealing with enquiries and claims the whole experience will be stress free and professional.

I had a problem with the dealer not paying for my warrenty when I purchased my car, which i would not have known about unless I had a problem in the warrenty time, which I did, approached an AA approved garage who when checking told me the warrenty given had not been activated (payed for).. Opteven who are responsible for authorising AA repairs sorted this for me, I payed myself upfront and then they chased it. Thank you Opteven for your support. I Will definitely check in future if I buy a car from a dealer that my AA warrenty has been activated.. this is no refection on the AA, it was the car dealer.

I looked for an AA approved dealer as it’s a well known brand and I thought behind that brand there was substance - standards and safety.
Along with that I purchased AA warranty just in case something went wrong.
Car turned out to be a complete lemon - catastrophic failure after 1500 miles driven.
Dealer shakes off any responsibility- AA can’t help as even though he is still associated with them he is not at the same time?
The safety net being the warranty - they require proof of failure which sits in the engine - I’m supposed to pay for an engine breakdown (£1000) just so I could submit a claim.
From my perspective and the mechanic I went to - completely unreasonable - might as well have thrown the £600 in the well and wished a wish as it would be as reassuring as AA warranty.
Will stay away from anything AA branded for the rest of my life - 2 months in and nothing. Take a week to reply.

AVOID......Not worth the paper it's written on.
Nothing essential covered.
Maybe a lost key or wind electrics.
Nothing that actually is needed to make a car move....
If you buy a car and the dealer says your warranty is with AA. RUN A MILE.

I chose AA Warranty as I thought it would be a safer option than the other companies you here so many stories about how bad they are like WPS.
I had my car diagnosed by 3 independent garages one of which was a main dealer and the other 2 were Land Rover specialists.
Turns out my car needed a balance shaft replacing so I went ahead and sent in the quote to AA Warranty and low and behold it was WPS or Opteven as they are now called, they told me I had to send images of the worn balance shaft and a detailed explanation of why it’s worn.
To do this would mean paying someone hundreds of pounds to take the engine apart to get the image so they can make up their mind weather or not to cover it. Despite having 3 independent diagnostics each saying the same thing. Avoid at all costs as it’s not AA but the very badly reviewed WPS (Opteven)

Very easy to contact and chat with. There were understanding that I preferred to use my Mercedes specialist garage. My garage’s diagnosis and cost for the work was accepted & approved without issue. I paid the garage and submitted my invoice - the sum being refunded to me within days.

I have a car that is reliable, clean, and very useful for my needs, however the mileage is high but although the car is regularly serviced by the dealer so it pays me to get the extended warranty
