Didn’t even bother calling back!

Following a family bereavement over last weekend, I telephoned Alexander & Co on the Monday to make an appointment to discuss the family estate. Their line went unanswered all day. Completed the online enquiry form twice - nobody replied. The following day, I eventually spoke to someone who I assume was a receptionist who took my details and said someone would get back to me. Waited all day and nobody called me.
Nice I’m sure to be in a position to ignore business!
Have gone elsewhere.,

Would not recommend these solicitors

Would not recommend these solicitors. The whole time my divorce was going through I had to chase to be given any indication as to what was happening. I can count on one hand how many times they were proactive and actually updated me yet in their t&c it stated they would and also gave another point of contact- whom I never heard from in the 11 months my straight forward divorce took to go through. I felt fobbed off with excuses and the final letter with the invoice suggests she was doing me a favour not charging me for half the work she did (Robert Barber t&c had different pricing) as there had been some “bumps in the road”. I don’t recall any “bumps”. I do recall mistakes in documents from them that must have been drafted for another case as I didn’t have a brown sofa my ex was going to have access to remove!? Calls and emails for updates ignored and just feeling fobbed off by a firm that are not competent.

No Faith in Solicitor 5 Months and lack of correspondence

I had originally gone to Robert Barber & Sons in W.Bridgford and they had taken on my case ( Divorce ). I was unaware that they were being taken over by Alexander & Co Solicitors until I received in formation through the post detailing their charges etc( which i may add had increased to what I had agreed previously ), During my time with Robert Barbers I was constantly phoning and emailing for updates and excuses given were astounding like someone has moved your file off my desk, Really !!!! and other excuses followed, at no point did my ex ever receive an email that was supposed to arrive with him the week after I had my first appointment. I was getting really frustrated as the months were ticking by, I did pay my court application fee of £593 to Alexander and Co as I did need this to be started ( however it never did get processed ) . I decided enough was enough and emailed a complaint through to Alexander & Co, regarding the lack of correspondence and the increase in fees. They did call me back the next morning as they take complaints seriously ( and so they should ). They agreed to honour the Hourly charge that i had been told when first visiting Robert Barbers and really wanted me to keep with them, normally I am an easy going person but on this occassion I said no as I have no faith in the solicitor dealing with my case due to the excuses given, I said i would like my money returned. Eventually i did receive a cheque ( yes a cheque lol I would have expected it to be returned to my card of which I had used to make the payment ). They did also charge me for the time for emails and calls ( of which i kept a log ), I personally thought they would have refunded the whole of the amount I had paid as I felt after 5 months of getting nothing done. Normally I am not one to complain but considering a divorce these days takes 8 months from start to finish I have now to appoint a new solicitor and I need to find one I can trust.
