Great Solar system, poor after-care
The solar panel system seems to be working fine but the after-care has been poor. We had a fault with the inverter which took a month to fix and since the installation we have asked them to set-up the monitoring system for us with no luck. It has been 9 months and now they are out of business with no warranty. I am sad for them.

Extensive damage to our property
I had to have a good think about writing this review because I’m a very reasonable person. In August 2019 we had 2 x AC units installed in our house: 1 upstairs in our bedroom, 1 in our living room. The outdoor units (2) were fitted on top of our brand new, flat-roof extension. The fitter worked alone & completed the job in 2 days. At first it was bliss; scorching outside & cool indoors - perfect for our sun-trap bedroom at night.
As soon as the first rain came after installation, was when things went South very quickly.
After the first downpour, I walked through the extension & felt a drop of water on my head - there was water logged in the ceiling & spreading fast towards the spotlights.
I called Valo straight away and they sent different engineers to check the original work - TWICE. They found ‘nothing obvious’ ... and the leaking continued.
A MONTH went by, our extension was suffering more and more damage inside, so we had to get our emergency insurance to send a roofer. He checked over the felt roof & added extra sealant just in case, but said the roof otherwise looked fine. He spotted though, that the holes made into the side & back of our house (1 for the pipes, 1 for electrics) hadn’t been sealed & recommended an electrician take a look.
With a £250 excess, we hired an electrician privately to take a look. He confirmed some very troubling details:-
1. The electric unit had a GAPING hole behind it & was filled with water. He filled that gap & sealed the unit properly.
2. The pipes are facing DOWNWARDS into the house not even a foot above the roof - water has been travelling from the pipes down & straight into the extension roof, right next to a spotlight. As an electrician, he couldn’t fix that, so we now need to pay for yet another professional to fix that.
Our ceiling has suffered extensive water damage from rain because of sub-standard workmanship, which also needs to be repaired by a plasterer now.
We took out a payment plan for £2700 which we’re not only stuck with, but had our property damaged for the privilege.
To add insult to injury we received an email from Valo informing us they’ve gone out of business, so we’re extremely stressed to be paying for something has damaged our property, and we have no way of demanding they fix what they’ve done.
Devastated isn’t a strong enough word to describe paying £2700 + ££££ to fix all the damage the engineer did to our property.
EDIT (my reply to Valo):
The electrical engineer you sent to us, DIDN'T SPOT or fix the issues in TWO visits, that a privately-hired electrician noticed in under 10 minutes. Why on earth would I trust him to come back???
I didn’t claim that you didn’t send anyone out - I suggest you read my review again properly.
The fact remains that your original engineer made 2 huge holes into our house, through brickwork, and caused damage that has allowed persistent rain water to damage our brand new extension.
Please do explain how sending the same person who twice found nothing, would solve a problem that we had to pay private contractors to fix.
My review isn’t about the time you took to send anyone, it is about the fact that prior to installation, our brand new extension never once experienced any issues. After installation, we were left with 2 gaping holes that no one you sent subsequently, spotted - our only choice was to pay someone on a Sunday night while water was pouring through our ceiling - waiting for Monday wasn’t an option.
The fact remains that your original contractor damaged our property and I would point out that NOTHING was repaired before we hired our own electrician.
We now have a water-damaged ceiling to fix because - again - your original contractor damaged our house through bad workmanship (and by the way we tipped him £30 on the day he installed it)
So, you have your money, we owe £2700 to the finance Co, have paid an electrician £70, have spent a total of £230 on various repair materials & still need to pay more for a plasterer & plumber.
All-in-all I rue the day I decided to allow the installation engineer to carry out the work (the reason which I’ll leave out of this review, but given my husband was advised he’s been fired, I imagine you know exactly why).
This is just a review that’s vexed you, but for us this is our home & hard-earned money.

Valo recommended for a solar panel system installation.
Having decided that a solar panel system would be the way forward to generate free energy, I opted to go with Valo. Despite it being a very busy time with everyone wanting their installations in time to beat the FIT registration cut off date, Valo achieved my installation satisfactorily and completed the registration necessary, on my behalf. Only disappointment is that that OWL monitoring system that was due to be fitted to enable me to monitor how the system is operating through an app on my phone, is not possible, due to the poor and unreliability of the OWL. However, I have been assured by Valo customer service that once a good reliable monitoring system has been sourced, they will contact me with a view to fit one to my system. Overall though, I am pleased with the system, installation and customer service, who have dealt with any queries I have had, very well. I would certainly recommend Valo to anyone considering having a solar panel system.

After an initially poor start Valo came good
After an initially poor start Valo came good, the scaffolders phoned out of the blue to say they would be putting the scaffolding up in around an hour ( lucky I was Home ) their instructions were for an install on the front of the house the front is north facing! So after correcting this they put the scaffolding up quickly without any fuss and arranged to dismantle a week after the panel install that was booked for the next Thursday! (Despite taking time off work they didn’t turn up after a call it turns out that it was booked for the Friday mix up with the date! And was rearranged for the following Thursday)
The installation team arrived as promised and after some consultation cracked on with the install, this team of Three were excellent friendly and helpful answered all my questions (mainly would you like a coffee? (Black with two just so you know how they like it). They cleared up well and went through the install with me and suggested an app to help monitor the system!
After many attempts and several calls the app is up and running although it’s not that accurate it has the be said!
How the FIT is claimed could be better explained!
Overall though I’ve had many follow up courtesy calls and the system is giving me free electricity so I’m very happy many thanks Valo.

I have tried to chase up both valo and…
I have tried to chase up both valo and the scaffolders but I keep getting told the scaffolding would be taken down but nobody shows up to do so.
The scaffolding was put up over a month ago.
It’s as if once I paid for the solar panel, the after care became non existent.
I’m appalled by the after care I’ve received from valo.

Valo were first class from start to…
Valo were first class from start to finish. We found the sales process simple, with a choice of a remote survey or face to face, whatever we were comfortable with. The advice given at point of sale was exceptional. In fact, there was a couple of extra items that other companies tried to ‘sell us’ but Valo worked out what the returns on these items would give us and only 1 worked for us, so we were happy to go with the one item and save ourselves some money...
There was no hard sell, just good honest advice!
The installation was done within a day, the installation team were polite and professional, and walked us round before starting just to confirm everything they would be doing prior to starting.
We are now looking forward to generating and storing as much free electricity as possible, well done Valo.

I have been impressed by the service…
I have been impressed by the service received from Valo. The original salesman was courteous, knowledgeable and kept us informed (despite considerable health problems). Although there were some minor glitches, the installation team were efficient and polite and kept us informed about issues. The administrative staff at Valo responded promptly and courteously to calls - all issues were addressed promptly and within the specified timelines. The system has now been working problem-free for the first month (19th March to 19th April) and has already supplied 369.74kw/h to the grid.

The installation team were nothing short of amazing, they worked hard and their finish was superb.
Jodi and team in the office worked hard to turn the experience around and the system is definitely making us feel better about our carbon footprint and our efforts against rising energy bills
Failed us at the last hurdle - owl intuition
We had a large solar array fitted plus a battery, the installers did a great job.
System was working fune but hadnt yet had an internet connected measuring device installed.
A few days later an installer returned to install what we now know is an "owl intuition"
We noticed that the readings from the owl didn't make any sense for instance showing 3kW of usage whilst nobody was home.
After some investigation online and finding a manual on how to install the owl intuition it turned out that for our installation an additional owl sensor and y-cable are required.
We called the helpdesk who were friendly but clearly not interested.
We left it for a week after which our battery unit stopped working.
Called the helpdesk and got someone booked in for the following week.
We then decided to email valo customer services to explain the owl intuition problem asking if the engineer who was scheduled in could be given a sensor and y-cable and fix this issue also.
We got no response, the engineer came and went and even though the battery is working again, the owl clearly wasn't.
We sent out another email.... nothing.
We called helpdesk and they said they would pass on the msg for cs to call back but again nothing.
Very dissapointing to see them fail at this stage.
Also I think there are many people who have had their owl intuition installed incorrectly but have no idea due to not having specific electrical knowledge.

Valo has contacted us regarding this review and have apologised plus offered £10 to pay for the extra sensor and Y-cable we had to purchase elsewhere to make the OWL intuition work properly plus they offered £50 as a good will gesture.
Currently we have received £50 and are awaiting the additional £10 for the Y-cable.
Valo has on several occasions contacted us to ask if we could amend our truspilot review.
This I now have done via this edit.
Personally I think that Valo needs to improve their customer service department as there seems to be no interest once they have your money. for this I think a rating of 3 stars is fair (acceptable experience but with some friction)

Excellent experience!!!

Two days later a surveyor arrived to to do the EVPS Certificate, the followong week an electrician installed all the cables and boxes anad by Frieday of that weel the installation was complete. The scaffolding was removed the following Monday. Excellent job!!

A brilliant product and excellent investment
We found that the service given by all the admin staff has been without question one of the best in most industries. The salesman was knowledgeable and made everything clear and explained timing,costs and everything that the product could achieve easily understandable. Installation team were a dream, all the large installation of 24 panels and following electrical battery installation and connection , were done quickly cleanly and without fuss.
The product works well and looks good ; one of the best investments we have made .

Update - We are promised an engineer today between 8am-10am...........nobody has turned up, this is not acceptable!!!!
Extremely disappointed with the service, I am constantly calling for an update on a job that has been left unfinished, they was quick enough to chase for payment after the installation, we keep getting promised someone will call back to let us know when they can finally complete the job but no phone call

PROPER JOB!
I began my adventure to solar power by chance, a click on Facebook. Valo were the first to respond, make an appointment that suited me. The "sales" lady that came was more like a low power huggable person trying to help you. After my hour long interrogation, emotional blackmailing and brutal questions she passed. we sat for about 3 hours getting to grips with it so that we could make a choice. My wife and I had been considering it anyway. DONE. Then next day, a follow up call to check we still wanted to go ahead, and scaffolders booked. The came , they saw, the conquered. The appointment for the panels to go in was on time (to the minute) and took the day to do.
When you have a job done that is complex, you expect problems > N O N E. seriously N O N E. the staff have been courteous, knowledgeable, and do the good old fashioned customer service thing. This appears to be contagious and has also infected the directors, who are also customer focused!
They have gone out of their way to make the whole process , dare I say it, enjoyable.
I WOULD HAVE NO HESITATION IN RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY, IF YOU WANT AN EASY LIFE!

Fantastic customer service! From the very first sales call, through the technical / installation survey, the booking process and the installation engineers & follow-up by the office, everything has been first class.
