After retiring last year, I finally pursued my longtime dream of learning piano and chose Piano In 21 Days because it promised a modern, no-fluff approach — and I hoped it would help me play the songs I loved in a way that sounded musical and true to the original. I spent about 2 hours a day, six days a week, working through the full course over four months — except for a couple of weeks I missed due to illness and a family emergency.
Jacques does a good job teaching chords, progressions, inversions, and the basics of music theory. I now understand how to build and move between chords, which is valuable. But the course falls short on one major promise: learning to improvise songs so they sound musical and recognizable.
By Day 17, I realized that real improvisation — creating a melody that fits a chord progression, has rhythm, and sounds like a song — is far more complex than the course prepares you for. It felt like being handed a few ingredients and told to cook a gourmet meal with no recipe. I learned improvisation techniques, but they are not enough to help me play the songs I want to play. And that’s a big letdown.
Also worth noting: Many of the 5-star reviews online are from people who never finished the course, and most of the YouTube testimonials are several years old.
The course gives you a decent foundation in chords, but if your goal is to actually sound like you're playing songs, you will end up disappointed. I came away with useful skills — but not the musical result I was truly aiming for.

Easy and Fun Piano Lessons
After much contemplation, I enrolled in Jacques Hopkins' "Piano in 21 Days". I am so happy that I made that decision! I am thoroughly enjoying the lessons at my own pace and have already seen a big difference in my learning and understanding of the piano. I took conventional lessons in 3rd grade (70 years old now) and this is so much better! I am excited for my lessons and look forward to getting at my piano! Jacques is a patient, thorough teacher. Thanks to Jacques, my Mama's piano will "sing" again!
I can go at my own pace and always go back to previous videos for help.
This course gives everything you need to play most of the popular songs out there.
I have never played a musical instrument in my life but as I've gotten older I've decided I wanted to try. I got a keyboard for my 60th birthday and quickly realized I had no idea what to do next. I found Piano in 21 Days on line and thought I would give it a shot. I have loved every minute of it so far and am happy to say I am advancing at my own pace and am learning something new every day. I love the fact that you can go at your own pace and Jacques provides lots of resources to help you along the way. As I stated earlier, I'm advancing slowly but am looking forward to playing a full song in the near future!!
The Pianoin21days is very thoroughly and well laid out. It capitalizes on latest video overlaying technology to teach numerous concepts and facilitate the learning experience making tedious, boring and redundant piano practices more fun, informational and approachable. We don’t feel overwhelmed since the practice lessons focus more on practical concepts rather than excessive music theories and we could also commit the training lessons at our on practical pace. We feel that it is a great value since it comes comprehensively bundled with the essentials ‘playing by ears’, ‘finger yoga exercises’ and of course the extra lessons on classical and jazz lessons for continued future advanced learning. We highly recommend the program since it comes included with a 30 days risk free trial of full refund.
I highly recommend this course. Material was easy to follow and simplified for a new starter to understand. You obviously still need to practice. Being able to play tunes with backing tracks so early on in the course is motivating. I really enjoyed my time on this course and am glad I can revisit exercises. I gave myself 6m to go through the 21days with daily half hour practices and a new Day once a week due to time constraints, but it could definitely be completed sooner. Thanks Jacques.
This course is very effective in getting me to the stage where I now have the tools necessary to play my favorite songs without spending weeks and months on site reading from sheet music. I can also now sit at the piano and be creative with chord progressions and improv techniques that, previously looked unattainable to me.
I struggle for personal time. I am Ms Georgia Senior America 2023 and a professional vocal entertainer. I’ve taken piano lessons for years and have never achieved the level and fun I have had in less than 3 weeks. Sheet music frustrates me!!! This class is well written, logical and entertaining. I so look forward to it and I can see myself going over the class several more times just for fun. Super…super…super!!!!
The ease and ability to go back to previous lessons that I thought I had mastered I then recognized that I need more practice
I also think that the name “Piano in 21 days is somewhat misleading. It appears to send the message that playing the piano proficiently can be accomplished in 21days

This kind of online course ideally is for hobby ONLY. It is NOT for preparing piano exams or careers!!! If you are thinking about exams or careers as your goals, you MUST look for a piano instructor.
Piano in 21 Days (1st course) taught about playing chords a lot. If you don't mind playing piano and singing at the same time and thinking that you are a very creative piano player, then this course teaches you a good method.
If you want to play a song exactly look the "same" as that singer's song, you need sheet music knowledge. Take Classical & Sheet Music in 21 Days (2nd course). Make sure you have to pay in full in order to choose this 2nd course. Using sheet music to play a song might need to take a long time to practice that song and might make you do more work for preparing the practice. So make sure you choose a song & the sheet music which are suitable for you to play.
Both methods have it own good & bad things.
Is it worth to pay in full to buy Jacques's course? To be honest, it is hard to say this course is good or bad. I took traditional piano lessons since I was a child. I like to play popular songs exactly the "same", so I have to use sheet music and l cannot sing.
Is Piano in 21 Days course a difficult course? Is it hard to learn piano in 21 Days?
In my opinion, yes, that will be a little bit difficult for people who have no knowledge and experience when they are taking this course. You might need more than 21 days to learn the stuff. You might need to repeat the course. Even I don't 100% fully master Jacques's stuff and I am not really a creative piano player, that's why I need sheet music to play.
No advice or suggestions for getting a piano or keyboard. Please look it up yourself. Don't forget a piano or keyboard also a part of your investment if you don't have one.
I just want to help people to make a better decision before they buy this kind of online course. If I can see someone who writes a review like this one before I buy Jacques's course, I would like to think about his course again whether I want to buy it or not.
Finally, my final advices are, whether you learn or never learn piano before, just buy Jacques's course or other instructor's piano online course base on your feelings. And try not to wait until you are retired or too old to learn piano. That's why 3 to 3.5 stars of 5 stars will be good enough. Results may vary for everyone. Whether you believe my review or not is up to you, if you don't like my review, you don't have to follow these stuffs. These are just my suggestions.
Thank you for reading this review and hope this review helps you at least a little bit and save some of your thinking time. This review supposed to be a 12 pages review but TrustPilot won't let me say so many things, so I have to skip so many details.

Enrolled in pianoin21days with high hopes, but the one-size-fits-all approach didn't cater to my learning style. Progress was slow, and support was lacking when I reached out for guidance. Left feeling like I wasted my time and money.

So far so great! Piano in 21 days is very user friendly and Jacques is so relatable. He explains lessons thoroughly and still manages to keep things fresh, not boring. I love that I can learn something and then practice practice practice until I feel ready to move on. I would encourage anyone thinking of taking piano lessons to give this method a try first!

The key to the excellent quality of the program are the exercises with the backing tracks. It helps me to judge my progress more objectively.

Being able to play songs quickly and improvise is awesome. Jacques breaks it down in and has helped me make sense of the why and the how. Love this course. Well worth the money, time and energy spent playing the piano in memory of my mom.

Although I am only on day 4 and not gifted in playing piano at all, this is an encouraging course. I do believe there will come a day when I will be able to play the piano. I think Jacques has done an excellent job in putting this program together and would highly recommend it.

I am really happy that I decided to take up Piano in 21 Days. It wasn't a small investment for me, but absolutely worth it. The overall approach suits me perfectly - after learning piano as a child, even though I could read music I wasn't able to sit down and just play tunes I knew and liked for enjoyment. I am only half way through the program but I already feel I have learnt so much and am confidently playing along with tunes I know.
The step by step approach, building up knowledge and skills is really well constructed and timed. Admittedly I will take longer than 21 days to get through it, but I am amazed at how much progress I have made so far.
And Jacques videos are just excellent - he is really personable with a clear way of explaining and making even the little bit of included theory accessible and understandable. Practising by playing along with backing tracks at different speeds is a great way of locking in the keyboard skills.
I am having so much fun and am looking forward to working through the rest of the 21 days - I have also purchased the extended programs and can't wait to see where it will take me!
