A few years ago, I took a crash course on investing with Cole, and it has paid dividends- excusing the pun. In 2022, I started my investment journey, and all I had to do was simply apply the fundamentals and principles that Cole spoke about during our session. I had no previous experience with investing in stocks, and I walked away from that session with confidence in knowing how to strategically invest my money. I invested equally in four companies I researched that aligned with my values and ethics. In 2025, I have more than doubled my return on my investment.

Additionally, when my son was born last year, I did the same thing for him. I opened a Sharesis account under his name, and I researched four companies, and I continually invest $50 a fortnight, applying the same fundamentals and principles. In a year, my son's investment portfolio has increased 60%.

I would highly recommend to anyone, to reach out to Cole and start their investment journey or to hone their investing strategy. The small investment of spending time with Cole has set me up financially and given me the confidence to know how to manage my investment portfolio.

I first stumbled upon Cole and his course while tuning into a Darcy Ungaro podcast. Cole talked about the different types of investors he encounters, from the super motivated and well-positioned to those who probably shouldn't invest at all. One of Cole's best qualities is his ability to assess where you fall on that spectrum and ensure you don't get in over your head.

The "New and Nervous Parents" type really struck a chord with me. We had just welcomed a baby and were determined to provide her with what our families couldn't—generational wealth and the freedom to pursue her passions without financial pressure. My husband and I had dabbled in investing over the years, often influenced by office chatter and quick to sell at the first sign of trouble, without truly understanding the companies we invested in.

I shared the podcast with my husband, who was initially skeptical. But after our first conversation with Cole, his clear and confident explanation of the course and the opportunities it offered convinced us to dive in. We started the course the very next week, and it did not disappoint. The 8-week journey was intense, but also a lot of fun and incredibly empowering.

We wrapped up the course in September 2023 and haven't looked back since. We took a hard look at our existing portfolio and sorted out the Cat Fish from the Fat Fish—sadly, no Fat Fish in sight, which wasn't too surprising given our previous uninformed optimism. We sold off all our less desirable investments and are now genuinely pleased with where our money is going. We take the time as a couple of continue to do the work on our investments and to hunt for more treasure. Our only regret over the past year and a half has been the tight financial belts we've had to wear (thanks to the jealous mistress of the mortgage and high interest rates), which meant we couldn't invest more into our Fat Fish.

We're eagerly looking forward to celebrating our second Fat Fishiversary this September, and we just know you can too if you embrace the process and let Cole open up your world.

Find Fat Fish, with Cole and Pericles, has been a really interesting, rewarding and enjoyable journey. When I first met up with Cole I told him (joking) that if it didn't work out on the course I would give him a really bad trust pilot review. However, as it turns out, having almost completed the course, I have to give him a really good one - I'm totally hooked! (sorry....if you don't have your fish puns ready you will not be seen as coming to workshops with your "A" game ready)

The course Cole has devised has totally given me the confidence to review companies and decide on whether they are going to be a decent investment for myself and Cole and Pericles also actually are right on top of participants to make their investment plans and see them through - while you are still on the course!!! No letting us off the hook (again...apologies, while my mastery is not as refined as some on the course, I have a total lack of self restraint when it comes to the fish puns now).

It is a fair bit of work but I have managed to do it around a fair few major events in my life and a very full work schedule - so it is possible!

The course has removed many of my own roadblocks to moving forward with investment in shares and away from property, and demystified and rebutted many commonly held academic understandings and even my father's views on investing. Cole has in addition to this made the whole research process so fascinating it has created a brand new obsession for me which I would hazard a guess is a reasonably healthy and productive one compared with others I could have adopted during this time of upheaval in my life. The process Cole teaches to research companies and guage their worth as capital growth investments is presented accessibly and in a really interesting way and it was achievable by everyone that I came across on the course - although we all went in surprisingly different directions which was also a further useful and broader insight I will reflect upon in the future.

It is great to see others going through at earlier and later stages of the journey in weekly workshops as well as you see there are quite a few common denominators in epiphanies reached along the way.

I feel my little comment here on Trustpilot doesn't even touch the sides of how much I have enjoyed Cole's programme and Cole and Pericles' insights into me and the psychology of everyone and I would encourage others to sign up if you are looking to have the confidence to take a first step into investing, or to obtain a re-think of, or encouragement for current or past investment strategies.

My husband and I just completed the 8 week Find Fat Fish Workshop!

Cole is excellent, he delivers his unique workshop that's very fun to watch and easy to understand, provides personalized support as you progress through and has you feeling empowered to make your own choices when it comes to stock picking.

Prior to learning how to Find Fat Fish, I was intimidated by the stock market and my husband was afraid of numbers. These problems quickly dissolved by week 3 of the workshop.

We are way more optimistic about our future in terms of being financially free. We've been gifted a pathway through Fat Fishing so what financial freedom means to us could be achieved in the nearer future than the unforeseeable distant one that we had envisioned prior to the workshop.

I cannot recommend this course highly enough. I have long been interested in the stock market and investing but most of my efforts fell far short of my hopes. Despite trying to understand the workings of the stock market I made very little practical progress over years.
In the space of 8 weeks I now have the confidence to pick and then invest in companies I am interested in, using the process taught by Cole. He is an excellent coach, meeting each participant where they are at and moving them forward without telling them the answers.
This course does not just give you a list of companies to invest in, for that stick to your stock market reports. Rather Cole teaches you how to choose your own Fat Fish ( stocks) and then invest in them for the medium to long term. The modules are well structured and easy to follow. Each week requires you to do the work, well supported by the Fat Fish team and the Q&A’s each week are motivating and inspiring as we shared and learned from one another.

It has been about 1 year now since my spouse and I completed the Find Fat Fish course/workshop. I consciously delayed providing a review of this course until now as I wanted to have a year of practical experience under our belts before providing a balanced review. When we completed the course we almost felt giddy with this new found knowledge, and so I wanted for some time to pass to execute our plan, gain some learnings (and to come down from our emotional high) before commenting on the experience.

In short, the course itself aids you in developing a semi-passive buy & hold long term strategy that is concentrated on a few high growth potential stocks. The course is structured where the first half is partially technical in the view of identifying, evaluating and selecting stocks. Whereas the second half of the course is more about developing a robust plan to emotionally ground you in executing your investment goals. The final steps of the course supports you in taking real action on your plan i.e. buying your selected stocks that you have evaluated during the course.

So after a year of taking action we look back and agree this is probably one of the best courses and investment decisions we have made. We thoroughly enjoyed the course, we consumed and absorbed every bit of content and felt empowered and ambitious to take the next steps. We gained a new perspective in how to invest, but also reframed what money means and how it influences our lives. Our investment strategy is slightly more active in what is maybe needed, but we enjoy tracking and engaging with our investments. We also enjoy the catch-up calls with the support group and to hear how everyone is progressing or other insights. We have very much enjoyed this journey and highly recommend it to others to do the same if they are willing to invest in themselves and take an active lead in their financial future.

Solid Course for Investing
Simply put after decades of letting others manage the results of my 401K and Roth IRA I realized the returns were dismal at best and wanted to take action.
When I first talked to Cole ( which lasted over an hour, so he was INVESTED) He asked a simple question when I used a somewhat typical response of "I'll have to sleep on it". Cole's course was exceptional - he taught us to put our fears and pre-conceived ideas to one side, enabling us to learn how to invest aggressively in a concentrated manner. Cole was hands on, personable, and tailored to the needs of each individual on the course. My wife and I have completed Cole’s course. I was attempting to upskill to take over my investment portfolio from professional money managers based on internal and external factors. I was searching through financial literature podcasts and reading a lot. As Cole goes over in the second half of the workshop our family has always had a strong defensive position. I found Cole through a podcast and did some mild internet stalking before reaching out. He was clear and trying to get people to embrace the amateur edge.

A young expert who was training me at the beginning of my career told me “you are pretty smart, but it is better to have a system then it is to be smart.” This is a frequent mantra as I teach younger people in my field; develop a system to keep you, yours and those you serve safe. Cole has developed a system that relies heavily on a clear system for stock picking with few rules and lots of best practices. Then pivots hard into the psychology of the classic Wall Street oracles and stalwarts.

Week 7 as part of Cole’s assignments he asked us to complete a series of questions quick short answers here is one of our responses…

Q: What are the investing mistakes you’ve made that you will never make again?
A: Paying others for mediocre returns
—Over 23 years we have paid no less that $XYZ,ZZZ USD in fees to brokers, fund managers and financial advisors (not including insurance)
—We have learned a lot but not as much as we have from Cole for the princely sum of $Y,ZZZ with the potential to earn it back through recruitment. And smash it with opportunity.

Cole repeatedly quotes Peter Lynch so I read two of his three books during the course (the third is a reprint of the first so skip it unless you really like reading). They are good but if you want to get to the hard work and make changes talk to Cole.

I learned how to research companies, but more importantly I learned that I’m capable of that work and that I enjoy it! I still have lots of psychological work to do. Cole walked us through the art of choosing stocks for a buy-and-hold strategy which would have two key features. To never go under, and to grow over time. No dividend stocks. Just pure growth. His method makes a lot of sense to me.

One of the things that I think was especially positive about the workshop - he doesn't pick stocks for you. He teaches you to pick stocks for yourself. Helping you fine tune your strategy, helping you do the research based on his methods. So that, long after the workshop is over, you can adjust your portfolio, consistently picking winners over a period of years. .
Another thing about the workshop that I felt good about was the amount of support Cole offers. There are videos and lessons that I thought were great, but what was especially meaningful was the one-on-one dialogue. He had two approaches. Each week, he reviewed "the homework", helping each individual with their stock picking decisions. He also answered any question that was presented. And any question was a fair question. Any doubt was a fair doubt. His response was to understand with empathy, answer with knowledge, and encourage with examples. He connected with all of my concerns, and helped my break through with a common sense approach that fit me. He did this for everyone in the workshop. And in such a way that we got to hear other people's questions, and his answers to a variety of questions. Sometimes the questions others had were what you were thinking but hadn't asked. Sometimes the stocks others were considering were stocks you were wondering about. If you wanted to, you could go back and listen to advice that he had offered to others. You could go back and review old lessons. You had the opportunity to master the material. In 8 weeks.

I cannot say enough how completely worthwhile I thought this course was. It was expensive. Very expensive. But I expect the returns to be far more.

I learned about Cole's course when researching stock investing techniques. Most of the materials out there focus on complex often incoherent short-term metrics disconnected from the underlying fundamentals of companies, portfolio balancing based on traditional notions of broad diversification and relying upon the expertise of financial advisors whose goals frequently do not align with those of long-term investors.

Cole's approach is different. On a high level, the 8 week course is focused in two key areas; stock picking and portfolio balancing taught through streaming modules and weekly live Q&A sessions.

Learning stock picking was enlightening, to say the least. Cole's methodology is to show you how to identify and research companies which, based on the balance of probabilities, are likely to meet your long-term (typically 5 - 10 years) investment goals. The research techniques are logical, sound and rely upon surprisingly simple qualitative and quantitative measures. It's engaging, accessible and empowering with absolutely no tricks or gimmicks.

The second part of the course has to do with planning and portfolio balancing. This was equally valuable in that it helps amateur investors gain the confidence to keep their goals in focus and importantly to not over-react to market volatility or give in to one’s own lingering self-doubts.

The modules are informative and well organized. Also, you can always revisit them (even after the course has ended).

The weekly Q&A sessions are vital. You see how others in the course pick and research companies and deal with portfolio balancing and management issues. Cole leads the discussions, asking guiding questions, emphasizing the simplicity of the approach and techniques. The Q&A sessions are available for download after each week's call and of themselves are an incredibly effective learning tool. Once you have completed the course there is a monthly call with other graduates which serves as a useful check-in.

Cole knows his stuff. He is experienced, smart, friendly and accessible. He responds to emails and questions quickly. There is no BS with this guy.

I can't recommend the course highly enough. It is hard work and requires active engagement. But the payoff is huge. You will not get lists of companies to invest in and pages of mind-numbing data. But you will gain the lifelong skills to successfully find and manage your own investments thus enabling you to take control of your financial future and lead the life you want to live.

I enrolled in the Find Fat Fish workshop back in 2017, and it has been the most significant step I have taken towards improving my personal financial health. I started off with a small diversified investment account that my parents had been managing for year. I didn’t really know what to do with this money, and honestly, its performance was below mediocre. After years of watching this account stagnate, I realized that I wanted to take action. This is when Cole entered my financial world. When I enrolled in the Find Fat Workshop, I learned how to assess the financial health of companies, use my insights as a consumer to drive my research and I learned how to confidently/competently execute trades and invest my own money.

At the start I was not sure what to expect but I found myself pleasantly surprised. Actually more than just pleasantly surprised. The program was a huge success for me, learning skills to change and take control over my ability to invest with confidence.

So…if you are one that is searching…really looking for ways to take control…and you are willing to do the work, I strongly recommend working with Cole. The program helps individuals tackle the uncertainties and creates an ability to calmly make investing decisions. What an amazing experience!

I heard about Cole through a podcast, NZ everyday investor. I had time on my hands and thought I could use that time to become educated about investing. My first conversation with Cole was completely mind-blowing. I signed up the next week with little hesitation.

What a wild ride the next 8 weeks were. The concise and entertaining way Cole presents his information is just perfect. I now have the ability to pick my own stocks and have conviction they will increase 10 fold over the long term.

If you want to be financially free while learning not to panic and give in to the noise of over information, this course is the best thing you can do. I know my life has changed in the best way possible, I am trying hard to contain my excitement for the future cause it's going to be AMAZING!

I came into this workshop completely overwhelmed by the idea of stock-picking. Each time I set out to read up on a possible investment, I'd quit just as soon as I started. I loved every bit of this workshop but I always looked forward to the Q&As and my one-on-one calls the most. Never a dull moment for sure! He is also very responsive to questions and I felt 100% supported through this process.
