I would give zero but there is no option. It’s been four months since I requested to sell my investment but I still have not received the funds. Excuse after excuse, mis-information from both India-based customer services and UK-based complaints investigator. Do not place an investment with Aberdeen, you will not get your money out without a fight.

In 2007 I invested £10k in a stocks and shares bare trust for my grandson, to be cashed in when he was 18 and intent on University. When it was withdrawn this year, Aberdeen had grown it to £ 16400. I consider this to be a poor performance over 18 years and have researched that many other Investment companies have a much better record of gains over 18 years. This is not the only disappointment with Abdn.Investments. Firstly it is extremely difficult to phone them. Their number is regularly down and e mails usually take 2 weeks to be answered. They will never ring their investors. Their postage of forms is poor. They will often duplicate the forms or fail to include material which is crucial. You tell them about this and they do not answer. You find yourself having to complete forms again as Abdn has failed to send them to you the first time. Then they want you to send the signatures of other family members and when the family is spread around Britain, collecting the signatures 3 times is tiresome to say the least.
So Aberdeen is a poor investment company and their customer service administration is chaotic. Given my experience I would never put my investments into their care again. There are many investment companies out there and most of them in my experience are much better at looking after your money. Why are there so many negative reviews on Trust Pilot? You can draw your own conclusions.
Truly awful
Truly awful. Originally my wife had an ISA with Standard Life that was then transferred to "Abrdn". Twice we have tried to draw down money from the ISA and twice this has failed online through the portal and has involved lengthy calls to the Abrdn support line to make it happen. Why have a portal that includes the option to "sell investments" that clearly doesn't work and having logged in then decides it can't verify your identity??!! Have ISA's elsewhere with other providers (Wealthify) and there's absolutely no issue accessing your money. Not a great experience - think twice we'd say.....

Really Poor Complaint handling
3rd review of this company and they are still hopeless.
Complaints process is designed for Abrdn NOT the customer. No inbound calls allowed.
I was given duff information due to Abrdn's inadequate platform.
No doubt if I try to leave they will charge a fortune to go.

Avoid at all costs!
If there were - stars they would get -5. The most inept and unprofessional company I have ever engaged. There staff don't know how to tell the truth and close out any account. I would advise people to stay well away from this company as they have absolute no clue what they are doing with the exception of knowing how to put people on hold. The staff should be embarrassed to say they work for such a company and I hope that others read these reviews at avoid them at all costs!

Very poor
Very poor! Having switched from a financial advisor to a client account in my wrapp they sold my investments!
They said that they couldn't be held as a private investor in my SIPP. They have no online method to purchase new funds and their list of funds that they will support is on a separate website in the form of an excel spreadsheet!
I was told to write in with a list of funds and they would complete the documents and return them to me for signature and after an indeterminate period of time they would make the purchase!
How you can make investment purchases and sales in a moving market over this laborious process and indeterminate period of time is a mystery to me.
Therefore, I requested to transfer my funds to interactive investor, part of the abrdn group, and this has also been inordinately time consuming and is still on going.
When I contacted them yesterday the agent told me that they were waiting on interactive investor to respond to them but further investigation revealed that they have had all the information they need to complete the transfer for days, the hold up is because it has been sat in the intro of an abrdn agent and no one can tell me when the agent will get around to dealing with my transfer!
However, I have transferred my wife's SIPP having started the process a week later than for my own!
It seems that customer service is a lottery and technology seems to have past abrdn by!
Transfer out
Tired of this Company and their crap so transferring to Fidelity ! Seems that Abrdn are deliberate stalling the transfer for no reason ! Typical from these

I requested my money be placed in a 'safe fund' they said that fund closed and the fund they put it in consistently lost money - over 17%.
STAY AWAY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET RUINED
After you make gain from your investment and you initiate to withdraw this, they ask you to make payment of an 8% platform fee calculated over the estimated profit. After having it paid they do not respond anymore. Lost 170 thousand USD investment. Stay away and inform others about it.

UTTERLY FOOLISH NAME CHANGE
Glad that this company has decided to correct its unbelievably foolish name change. Probably the most foolish rebrand of all time. The costs of the rebranding and now the reversal should be paid for by the directors responsible personally. Why should the shareholders pay for this piece of utter stupidity?
Poor investment company
Abrdn is one of the worst investment companies I’ve ever dealt with.
They lie about transfers and do everything to keep your money, they should be investigated. Now I've got reply that's a standard one. My relatives are having the same problems with them.

Answer the dam phone!
Trying to set up withdrawal from my sipp and nobody will answer the dam phone, and wont allow me to do it online. 1 hour and 20 mins on in I gave up.
Following day got through and the chap from standard life (James) was extremely helpful and was worth 5 stars. Resource your phone lines properly!!

Stay well clear. Do not invest with ABRDN!
I have been very unhappy with the poor service the absurdly rebranded ABRDN has provided. They cannot even manage to allow customers to link a bank account to their account so when the client invariably decides to close their account due to poor service they have to wait for a bloody cheque. Twice this has happened and now I am going to make it three by completely taking all my money out of this poorly run company. Cannot trust them with my money. I never asked to be invested with them in the first place. I was with Standard Life.

abrdn Self Investor - Just Avoid!
abrdn Self Investor Platform. I originally started investing in funds when the platform was AXA but now its abrdn who 'run' the self investor platform. Its closed to new users now (thank God!) and they've simply given up on the platform completely. Its missing some fundamentally basic functionality such as you can't transfer from a non-ISA into an ISA and after selling units in a fund on 11 Feb I'm told I have to wait until 18 Feb for the money! Its 2025, not 1985. Now looking to transfer my entire holdings away from this antiquated, unsupported platform. They still take a hefty amount in fees every year though!
