I strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Sam Oates to thoroughly read all the negative reviews and feedback online. There's a noticeable pattern of complaints — including taking money without delivering, broken promises, and dishonest behavior. Based on my experience and what many others have shared, I believe he cannot be trusted. Please protect yourself and make an informed decision before engaging with him.

He’s a liar, a scum and a thief!!

Bought 2 Defender 110s for my company. Sam was great, beat my previous quotes and had them delivered within 4 days*

This guys a scammer, wouldn’t trust him at all! agreed to buy a car and had us waiting for 2 hours - one of his friends had to pay us what was owed to bail him out.

After that to fix things he promised to compensate us, still nothing from him - gone completely ghost.

Any positive review has to be false - I know multiple people he has done over! He’s taken my partners car , said the finance would be taken over and sold onto someone else, but he has actually sold the car on but not changed finance over so my partner is paying for a car that he does not have!

He has stopped responding to all calls and texts, £1000s down, absolute joke he has essentially stolen the car.

Didn’t even want to use one star, SAM OATES is the biggest con artist I know, owes me thousands of pounds he lies he ignores calls and just moved to Dubai, none of these latest reviews are genuine so don’t be fooled. I know he’s scammed plenty of other customers aswell including my freinds please avoid at all costs

Scam artist! Constant lies. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS PERSON

Sam sourced my new car and arranged for my old car to be part exchanged. Once we swapped, he said the finance would be dealt with. Sam calculates his scams by using a ‘12 month buy back guarantee’ in which he tells you that you can exchange your car after 12 months but instead just steals your car.

It was 7 months down the line and Sam ignored all of my calls, didn't answer any questions related to my old car and I was paying the finance.

After 4 months I had to get the police involved and citizens advice but as Sam has moved to Dubai, I was stuck.

I had to investigate the whole thing myself to find out that Sam was renting out my car to somebody for £450 per month whilst I still paid for it.

When I finally traced the car and who had it, I was able to recover the car 7 months later with help from the finance company. I urge anyone who has had similar experience to push your finance company.

I am probably over £3500 down after this whole situation and despite knowing exactly what Sam has done, he still denies.

Do not trust Sam.

SCAMMED me for £1,000 after I bought a Mercedes through SAM OATES. Pretended he had some issues with his bank and couldn’t release my deposit.

Been 1.5 years of him constantly telling me he is “just about to make the transfer”.

Don’t recommend, incompetent & cannot be trusted.

Really pleased with my experience. Great service and very quick turn around. Sam was really helpful throughout, would use again and would highly recommend.

Now using instagram username sdoauto , avoid this aswell. I have informed Sam since he promised to refund me my money but didn’t that I will not be leaving the situation unresolved.

I've been in contact with other brokers who are familiar with his actions, and they agree that what he’s doing is not okay. I urge anyone who has gone through the same experience to contact me to help build the case. They are willing to help me take this further and spread the word to other brokers and lenders to stop working with him.

Despite giving him multiple opportunities to make things right, he has failed to do so. I will also be raising this matter as fraud, as my broker initially suggested, and I won’t be retracting my claims.

Do not send any money to this guy!!!

He took our car on a sale or return and sublet to someone else. The only reason I was able to recover the car was i hadn’t realised I still had the tracker app for the vehicle on my phone.

The car he sold the deposit never went into the finance deal.

Case taken to the FCA.

I managed to get the car I bought sold back to the dealer direct.

Sam makes lots of claims he’s got the best relationships with dealers, brokers for finance - go direct to complain to them not through him (he will lie and say he’s working to resolve). The dealers and finance companies are guilty by association, they’re indirectly helping him to scam people. Without Sam having access to a supply of cars or finance we wouldn’t all be £1000s out of our pockets into his.

This guy needs to be stopped contact me like others I believe a bigger chance of success if lots of cases put together.

Sam pockets the deposits from his customers!!! And worse, he illegally sublets your previous vehicles that you have ‘part exchanged’.

I have reported this to the Motor Ombudsman, Trading Standards and emailed the case to Watchdog!!

Do not get a car from Sam OAKES he has stolen money from me taking 3300 deposit, I had a contact for 12 months after 7 months my vehicle was demobilised by the finance company and collected, Sam had been taking my monthly of a further 600 pm payments and not paying the finance company. He gives EVERY excuse humanly possible and the whole experience gave me a huge amount of anxiety. He still owes me money and I am taking him to court. Worse experience I have ever had.. Stay away from him 1 seven or another company he is now operating from savant holdings. The police have statements and the court proceedings have started.

If u could give 0 stars I would- 3 of my very close friends have all used Sam from 1 seven and have all had bad experiences. One put a deposit in which never even went against her car. Another he allowed to get a new car but then has not cleared her old finance! And is ignoring the calls so he’s taken her old car but left her with two finances. It’s been awful and as single mother she’s having to beg him each month to pay the finance, which he does eventually but she gets late payments and has to chase for weeks on end- to now find out he’s not even changed the logbook and her new car is not in her name yet! Please stay away it sounds to good to be true that u get a car with bad credit etc but it really is not all it seems?

Samuel Oates is a scammer. He likesto take false deposits off of vulnerable women/young lads.

He told me he would take my old car fix it and sell it. 4 months later I am still paying the finance and he is subletting my car out to someone else.

Makes up constant lies, saying I will get the car back he will pay me etc and still my car is missing .

I have many other friends and people in contact with me at the moment to whom he has done simular with.

The case is also with the police and my car is currently marked as stolen.

We are currently in the process of building a case on this matter, if anyone else would like to come forward and join feel free.

Sam was very helpful throughout the whole process made everything so easy and smooth. Fantastic customer care.
Couldn’t be any happier with the purchase. Looking forward to dealing with Sam again.

After my last post Sam strangely got in touch promising to sort the issues with my faulty car but yet again, all lies to try and get me to remove my review and instagram post.

Shock - the repairs have never been made. I have finance on a car thats well over the odds in terms of value.

I would never ever work with him or 1 seven again, how they sleep at night is beyond me.

Numerous people have been in touch with similar stories so i hope other people do more research than i did. I'll never make that mistake again.
