Review of Carnival Cruise Line

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Good - with the Proper Expectations

I have sailed with Carnival 4 times, most recently in March of 2022. We will sail with them again and most likely will enjoy ourselves again, but primarily because we have proper expectations and making sure you know what the cruise contract says. Get everything in writing.

Carnival is not, nor does it bill itself as a luxury cruise line. But if you're going just to get away and have a good time ... you probably will. Certainly, we have sailed on other lines (and paid more) and had better food and better entertainment. If those things are most important to you make a different choice for your next cruise.

Also, NEVER buy the travel insurance offered by Carnival ... AON is a complete scam and I think you'll see the trend in these reviews that it's the insurance that causes so many of the poor reviews. Yes - Carnival should pick a better vendor to work with and that's why I took one more star off.

Review of Norwegian Cruise Line

Good Cruise But Some Lessons Learned

We sailed with NCL for the first time in July 2022 (on the Bliss) and would sail with them again but would do some things differently to improve the experience. We are experienced cruisers with prior experience on Carnival and RCCL for comparison.

PROs:
- Beautiful, clean ship with good amenities
- Really friendly and helpful crew
- Kids had a BLAST at Camp Ocean and begged to go back every chance they could
- Best cruise food I've experienced
- Entertainment options were better quality than previous experiences (but some of the smaller venues aren't sized adequately to accommodate demand ... arrive early)

Lessons Learned:
- Fewer amenities are included than on other lines - budget accordingly
- The NCL PCCs (personal cruise consultants) are not objective and will tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. If you want an impartial source, use a travel agent instead. Also, most policies are documented pretty well on the website ... verify policies of importance.
- DO NOT book the travel insurance offered at the time of purchase. AON is a horrible company to work with and you can get a better deal from other reputable travel insurance companies. NCL will not support you at all if you have issues with AON even though NCL sold the policy.
- Buy your own airfare direct from the airline. Not knowing your flights until 30 days ahead of time and having no change options is nerve wracking and not worth the minimal cost savings. Plus, if there's a problem everyone points the finger around (even something "easy" like changing seats). I MUCH prefer RCCL's air2sea program.
- Bring your own over the counter medications. As other people have stated, needing a Tylenol or cough drop will cost you at least $300 because you'll need a COVID test and DR consultation before they give you anything even if there's an obvious cause that isn't something contagious.

Customer beware

Customer beware - I'm hoping to save someone else this pain. This organization is still selling travel insurance policies they have no ability or desire to service in the advertised timeframe. The truth is - unless you are looking for travel insurance knowing you won't need to make a claim or you have so much money that you don't need your money back for MONTHs - buy elsewhere.

Customer service representatives have acknowledged to me on multiple occasions that they do not have the staffing to meet their advertised claim response time, but yet even months later they still advertise this review timeframe to new/potential customers.

Filing a BBB complaint appears to be the only way to get anyone at the company to look at your claim.

Review of Bellco Credit Union

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Would recommend as a local CU

I've now had two favorable interactions with Bellco Credit Union.

First, in branch to set up a membership and open a CD (they have very competitive rates!). The lady who helped me on that occasion was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. Everything went exactly how she indicated it would.

I also recently bought a new car and my car dealership said they typically worked with local credit unions so I requested Bellco since I was already a member. That was also a satisfactory experience.

The only improvement is that I find their online banking system to be not as user friendly as other banking platforms. Also they have maximum payment limits (amount and quantity per month) for car loans which I wasn't aware of until I bumped into them trying to quickly payoff my loan.

Review of AutoNation

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Good Car Buying Experience (Yes Apparently That Can Be a Thing)

We recently purchased a new car from AutoNation Subaru Arapahoe in Centennial, Colorado.

This was by far one of the most pleasant car buying experiences we've had. Our sales rep Mike M was very knowledgeable of features etc and gave honest answers instead of fishing around for what we wanted to hear. The whole team (Mike, Dylan, Tawseef to name several) was respectful of our time and our timeline. We've had great follow-up ensuring our satisfaction all the way up to the sales manager Mike and GM Matt.

We're pleased with the car and haven't had any feelings of buyer's remorse or finding out something wasn't as "promised". It's the one time I've felt like I could honestly refer a car dealership to a friend without hesitation.

Review of Frontier Airlines

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Bing Ultra Budget Doesn't Excuse Everything

Trying to be unbiased here. I live near Denver so fly Frontier somewhat frequently because it is often my only affordable non-stop option. I have had a couple tolerable experiences flying with them, but the risk of a horrendous experience is also really high. Every trip I have to calculate how much risk of torture I'm willing to tolerate at the given cost/time savings.

Firstly, they do bill themselves as an "Ultra Budget Airline" so as a customer you have to set expectations accordingly. But even compared to their peers in this consumer space they have some notable drawbacks:

- With Frontier, I have never had a trip not have a schedule change at some point. (I cannot warn others enough - after you've booked tickets, you will learn to live in dread of Thursdays. Every several weeks Frontier will inexplicably let you know they've changed you flight times from anywhere between 3 minutes and 23 hours or cancelled them all together. And yes, they will even roll out these massive schedule changes for your flights that are 3 months from now: 1) on a Holiday week and 2) when the nation is crippled by a once in a generation winter storm. Then they try to prevent you from and make you feel bad for attempting to contact customer service because "it's a bad time".)

- Frontier Airlines has possibly the most maliciously ineffective customer service policies in existence to attempt to ensure that you lose your money, time and dignity if something goes wrong that makes you legally eligible for a refund. The only remaining options to engage with customer service are chat and social media (no calling). Neither of these can/will process refunds. When the automated systems are offline/broken/overwhelmed/maliciously misleading they will attempt to lead you to believe there are no additional options. If you find yourself in this situation as well - the magic words are "DOT complaint."

Review of UCHealth

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Good Care, Bad Admin Practices

I am appreciative of the care I've received at UCHealth, but their appointment scheduling has some clear issues and their estimate/billing practices are deceptive. With this large of an organization, you just get a shoulder shrug if you voice a concern on either of these topics.

Appointments - I've now had at least 2 appointments within the UCHealth system where I've shown up at the time/place communicated on the phone and been told I don't have an appointment. I was told I need to get the app so that can verify the appointment actually "took" in the system. I will do this in the future, but if this is such a common occurrence it seems something on the provider end is needed as well.

Billing Issues - I've also now had 3-4 procedures in a row where I have checked the estimate provided by UCHealth before services and the actual bill is off wildly because on the estimate it was coded as preventative care and it actually gets billed as Diagonostic. When I ask, I get the reply "Unfortunately, the information provided is an estimate and not a guarantee of the final billing charges."

But if the estimate is based on the referred service, are they estimating the wrong service or performing the wrong service? Each time if I had known the referral wasn't for my annual wellness service, I would have asked for the referral to be rewritten, but since the estimates are misleading me into thinking the referral is correct, I'm stuck with $1000s in unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

Alternatively, the referral is for my wellness service and the procedures are being billed inconsistent with the referral. Neither alternative is ok.

Review of Travel Guard

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Good Customer Service Experience

We bought a TravelGuard policy when we bought airline tickets through Frontier. Only a couple days later Frontier changed our flight times by 13+ hours which would no longer work for our travel plans.

Since it was within the 15 day "review" period TravelGuard fully refunded our premium consistent with their policy quickly and with NO drama.

I was able to talk with TravelGuard customer service with less than a minute of holding. He walked me through the steps to make a written refund request. I heard back from my written request in less than 24 hours.

Review of Target

Great Communication About Minor Delays

I've recently done a lot of holiday shopping on Target's website (among others). I was thankful and appreciative of the proactive communication when shipping estimates changed.

In an ideal world things would arrived exactly when initially "promised", but since we don't live in a world where that is always realistic (especially where we are where weather is unpredictable), Target has set up a great adaptable communication system.

All items in all orders were fulfilled without issue.

Review of Cigna

Great Customer Service Call Experience

I had an extremely helpful customer service agent today who I felt went above and beyond to help me understand claim submission options in a non-straight forward case. I really wish I would have gotten her full name to share for recognition. It makes all the difference in the world when you connect with someone who cares.

Furthermore, on 12/2 when I question the source of a cited policy requesting additional information (seems like a stall tactic), the customer service agent was shocked that I would question the credibility of information she provided about their internal policy only verbally after 4 months of waiting (over 4 times the estimated time available on their publicly available website). In comparison the information they were disputing from another source was provided with a link to the publicly available official policy the same day as the inquiry was made.
