Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional – NEVER AGAIN
I ordered a birthday cake from Bilka for my daughter’s 5th birthday. I received a confirmation email that the cake was ready for pickup at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 5:50 PM – and the cake was nowhere to be found.
First, the bakery staff told me to check inside the supermarket. I went around in circles between confused and unhelpful employees, waiting for 30–40 minutes, trying to get answers. No one seemed to know anything, no one took responsibility. Eventually, I found the second shift manager, who was the only person willing to help. She made several calls and genuinely tried – but unfortunately, the cake simply did not exist.
In the end, I got a refund, but no cake. I left the store with my 5-year-old daughter crying, completely devastated because her birthday cake was just... gone. I then had to run around Copenhagen at 8 PM trying to find any cake for her kindergarten celebration the next morning. Do you have any idea how hard that is the night before?
I also called customer service, who promised they would call me back the next morning to try and make up for it. Guess what? No one ever called. Typical.
The whole experience was a complete disaster. You ruined what was supposed to be a special day for my child. I strongly advise others to think twice before trusting them with anything time-sensitive or important.
