don't use Delpaso or DoYouSpain
On arrival at the Delpaso airport depot,
I passed over my driving licence, passport, two credit cards and two debit cards.
The two credit cards showed my initials and not the full name. The debit cards both showed full name.
DoYouSpain who I had booked through, wording said I needed a 'Credit Card (in the name of the main driver)'
None of these cards were acceptable to avoid the additional insurance premium of €200 - they don't accept debit cards, and Delpaso said the credit cards must contain the full name.
Despite that, they were happy to take the payment for the XS insurance €200 using the same credit card.
The small print does not say the credit card must show 'full name' - but Delpaso claimed as the card did not show my full name they wouldn't accept it and I had to purchase the additional insurance from them.
The small print on the hire voucher I had states :
A major credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in
the name of the main driver is required inorder to collect the car. (Please note that cards without the driver's name on will not be accepted). This company will not accept prepaid, rechargeable, virtual credit cards or cards issued by virtual banks.
This is surely a blantant rip off and others should be warned. Also the IDP is extremely questionable and another tactic to sell the full insurance. I have a separate annual policy that covers all CDW claims so I didn't want the Delpaso cover. I paid it, as DoYouSpain wouldn't allow me to cancel. The upside is the car return was simple as everything was covered regardless.
