They asked me for sensitive information about someone else.
After starting an investigation justified by the fact that they must because they are part of FCA, they asked me my self-return and bank statements - which confirm completely what I told them about my circumstances.
They then asked for my family self-return. I don't have my parents self-return, they live in another European country, I don't live with them, I don't have access to any tax information of my family nor I'm entitled to have such information. We are separate people, living in two different countries, and paying taxes in two different countries. Of course, I couldn't supply such information. Because of this, my 'application' (I've never applied for anything) it's not going to be reviewed positively and the account is going to be reviewed for further investigation.
I'm not sure if their system is good in catching criminals, but for sure it's good in unfairly persecuting and harassing unemployed, freelancers, people borrowing or giving money to their family, and whoever has an unstable income or no income at all in an extremely difficult situation during a pandemic, struggling to absolve the 'crooked business' of the weekly grocery shopping.
If Revolut plans to answer they have to conduct such investigations, I hope they will be able to explain and point it out any written rule for which they have to ask me for sensitive information about other people, I'm not supposed to have and neither entitled to have and on the basis of this, further persecute me.
Furthermore, when I have asked how to open a formal complaint, their agent didn't share transparently Revolut procedure for formal customer complaints. Instead, she sent me over a link of Survey Monkey, which is a marketing tool.
I now know, the extreme, tangible difference between a real, established Bank, and a wanna-be whatever they think to be.
They might have or not the power and the authority they claim to have, but they are first of all a business selling a product to customers. And as a customer, I wonder if their request to obtain from me sensitive information about someone else is not just unreasonable, but also legit.
I do expect some foggy (but authoritative) answer on which they point out again how much legit their power and authority are, without explaining how much legit is their request of sensitive data about someone else and their lack of transparency about my right to open a formal complaint.
If you're reading, just wonder, do I have access to my parents' tax return? If your answer is no, probably you can understand how much unreasonable is their request.
