No virtual credit cards accepted for security concerns?!
I tried to buy a game from them. My purchase was put on hold for a security check on my credit card, a standard procedure that these types of shops have put in place, and it is one I have come to understand as reasonable. I provided both my ID and credit card info as they requested. However my purchase was cancelled, because HRKGame has a stunning policy: it does not accept virtual credit cards, stating "security purposes".
This is a first for me and it is obviously a contradictory policy, as banks (both traditional banking and the emerging tech ones such as Revolut and N26) have provided to their customers the ability to create virtual credit cards precisely to combat fraud and improve security, since by using a virtual credit card you can limit the amount of spending and even limit the number of uses of said virtual credit card. Therefore making the arise of a security breach or fraud to be quite harder and, if it does arise, the damage will be far diminished and easier to deal with.
Hence I cannot recommend this shop for a contradictory and dumbfounding policy that does not protect customers, but indeed exposes them to higher risks by making them reveal and use their actual credit card instead of a virtual one.
Banks have put virtual credit cards in place to protect the actual bank account/credit card, but HRKGame somehow thinks this a security risk. Go figure that one out.
