More About Money Than News

HuffPost's news content is decent enough, but it feels more like a money-making machine than an actual news site. The constant requests for donations and the ads all over the place make it hard to focus on the stories. On top of that, they're constantly pushing affiliate marketing products, which just adds to the feeling that it's less about delivering news and more about cashing in. It's a frustrating example of how internet news has turned into a blatant money grab. Not exactly the go-to for quality journalism.

Review of UCHealth

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Stay away. Far away.

My experience with UC Health has been deeply disappointing and concerning. What stands out most is their billing practices, which I found to be aggressive and potentially predatory.

The most egregious example was when I dropped off a basic lab test at my primary care physician's office. Without any prior warning or explanation, I received a bill for nearly $1,500, categorized as "outpatient hospital laboratory services." This type of unexpected charge seems designed to blindside patients who are simply trying to receive routine medical care.

In my interactions with them, I've found that attempting to dispute or question these charges is futile. They appear uninterested in addressing billing concerns or correcting potential errors, even when the charges seem questionable or potentially improper.

Based on my experience, UC Health seems to prioritize revenue generation over patient care and transparency. Their practices represent everything that's wrong with our healthcare system – focusing on maximizing charges rather than providing accessible, affordable care.

For your own financial well-being, I strongly recommend seeking medical care elsewhere. The stress and financial burden of dealing with their billing department simply isn't worth it.

Review of Bluehost

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Scams and Fraud

I renewed a Bluehost Plus Hosting plan in April, which promised unlimited websites and data for a span of three years. It seemed like a golden opportunity, a chance to expand and grow without the constant worry of exceeding data limits or being restricted to a certain number of websites. But alas, my optimism was short-lived.

Just a few months into my contract, in September, Bluehost decided to alter the terms of our agreement. The unlimited websites and data that were the selling points of the Plus Hosting Plan were suddenly no longer available. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to ask for more money to continue enjoying the services I had initially paid for.

This experience has been nothing short of fraudulent. It feels like a breach of trust, a slap in the face to loyal customers who believed in the promises made by Bluehost. It's disheartening to see a company, which has been a significant player in the hosting industry, resort to such underhanded tactics to squeeze more money out of their customers.

The sudden policy change not only disrupts plans but also imposes an unexpected financial burden on users who had budgeted based on the initial agreement. It's an unfair practice, one that leaves a bitter taste and fosters distrust.

I am deeply disappointed and feel cheated by Bluehost. The company has shown a blatant disregard for the principles of honesty and transparency, which are the bedrock of any business-customer relationship. This experience has been a cautionary tale, a reminder to approach hosting services with a healthy dose of skepticism and to always be prepared for the unexpected.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Bluehost to anyone looking for a reliable and honest hosting service provider. The abrupt policy changes and the demand for additional payments are red flags that cannot be ignored. It's a lesson learned the hard way, and I hope others can avoid falling into the same trap.

Reply from Bluehost

Hi Alan,

As a company, Bluehost wants to invest in performance, uptime, and the ability for customer sites to potentially handle more visitors. Additionally, we want to align with industry standards. That being said I can definitely understand why this would feel frustrating. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Trusted Service

Sedo is one of the major players in the domain industry and is highly respected and trusted.

I have both purchased and sold many names on the platform and the experience has always been quick and easy.

There's definitely room for improvement. Would be great to see 24-hour chat and phone support. Would be great to see a modernized user interface.

Overall, though, Sedo is a highly trustworthy platform and I appreciate their services.

True Professionals

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Afternic. I have bought and sold many domain names through them, and their professional representatives have always gotten the job done right. They handle a high volume of business, and are responsible for the vast majority of domain sales. Afternic does an excellent job in all aspects of the domain buying and selling process. Highly recommend them.

Dishonest

Yelp removed one of my reviews with no warning and no notice, and they gave me no opportunity to get the review reinstated. I cannot contact the company to discuss the removal. I spent a great deal of time writing this review and it received a great deal of positive feedback from Yelp users. I no longer trust Yelp as an honest guardian of reviews and, as a marketing VP, I will no longer recommend Yelp advertising to my clients.

Review of American Auto Shield

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Criminals

American Auto Shield and its President, Jason Currier, live in a magic auto fantasy land. In this land, customers don't matter. Delivering on the service people pay them for doesn't matter. And, best of all for them, legally binding contracts don't matter so they can do whatever they want!

Unfortunately for Jason Currier and American Auto Shield, scamming money from customers under the pretense of providing car warranties and failing to deliver on contractual obligations are illegal activities that have very real consequences.

AAS's reasons for denying claims directly contradict what's in their contract. They'll claim you didn't have coverage when your contract says you did. They'll claim your car had a pre-existing condition when your contract says you didn't. I asked one of their supervisors, Alonzo, about this fact.

"I understand your point," he said. "That won't change our decision about your claim."

It may not change your fantasy land decision, Alonzo, but it also doesn't change AAS's contractual obligations under the law.

Jason Currier and the AAS crew will probably never escape their fantasy land. At least, when they wind up in jail, American auto owners will truly be shielded from these despicable criminals.

Review of CarShield

Lowest of the low

CarShield is the front man for a bunch of scam warranty companies who can't get any sales on their own, so CarShield brings them customers, like sexy demons luring unwitting victims into the clutches of a vampire.

These well-trained sales ponies are your best friends--until they get their sale. Then they're out of the picture. Something wrong with your car? Warranty company denying your claim?

Too bad for you!

CarShield's already far down the road, counting their money, laughing at the sucker they left behind in the dust.

I was one of the lucky ones. I found out real fast how much of a scam CarShield is so I didn't have to go on for years thinking my car was protected by one of their fraudulent providers, pouring thousands of dollars into a protection plan that appears real on the surface, but doesn't actually cover a thing.

Just look at the reputation of the scam warranty company CarShield tries to deliver you to. You'll see for yourself that this company is fronting for a bunch of thugs.

Less than a star for this vile organization. May it rot on the outside like it rots from within.

NOTE: CarShield politely asks for my "contract number" in their reply to this review. They have my number, and I've been in touch with them many times. They have already said there is nothing more they can do for me. Stay away!

Review of Pact

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Nightmare

I ordered two pairs of drawstring sleep pants. When I put on the first pair and tightened the drawstring, the stitching around the drawstring immediately ripped. I tried the second pair and the same thing happened.

Requesting a refund online was difficult. At first, I was cut off from the chat because a representative didn't want to process a refund. The second representative was impatient, insincere, she didn't listen to what I was saying, and she made the entire process very uncomfortable. She showed no concern at all with the quality of the sleep pants and gave no indication that pact would attempt to identify and correct the underlying problem of poor craftsmanship in their sleep pants.

I appreciate pact's fair trade / organic cotton offerings but after this experience, seeing that their products don't hold up and dealing with their rude customer service, I won't order from them again.

DecEVEd

Indre at Eve told me Eve's pillows were CertiPUR-US certified, yet the company offers no documentation to support this claim. The pillows smell a great deal, even after I aired them out for over 2 days. Very disappointing.

Note that Eve changed their reply below to state that only the pillow cover is Oeko-Tex certified. Their original reply claimed their pillows were Oeko-Tex certified.

Foam cores can be toxic. They can cause respiratory problems, skin irritation, and cancer. This is not a game. Eve should not take this issue lightly and lie to customers who are aware of these hazards just to placate us. Get your act together, Eve! Get the foam in your pillows and mattresses certified!

Hi Alan,
Thanks for getting in touch with us again.
We can confirm that the eve pillow cover has the OEKO-TEX® Class 1 certification label for safety and this a textile certification, rather than a foam certification, so this does apply to the cover only.

We do apologise if this caused any confusion and we will review how we can make this more clear for customers going forward. We understand that you no longer wish to keep the pillows and our team have arranged a refund for you as you are still within your 30-night trial.

If you have any other questions that we can help with, please let us know on 0800 808 5766.

Kind regards,
The eve Sleep Team.
