Wrong product sent, had to ask multiple times for my money back

I purchased a NAD HTR8 remote control. Unfortunately, what was actually shipped was a different model, the HTR2.

The product page does say in the small print 'This remote control has been replaced by fully compatible original genuine HTR2 remote control', but nevertheless, they are not the same product and it is wrong to advertise one product for sale but ship a different one.

To make matters worse, the remote's learning function didn't work. Given how light the remote control was, I suspect it was counterfeit.

It took multiple emails to get a response, but I was eventually offered a refund, so I shipped the product back using a tracking number. When I got the refund however, it was not for the full amount. To be fair, when I complained, they did eventually give me the rest of the money back.

I would avoid this vender. I can see from the reviews that a lot of people do okay using them, but my experience is that they will try to get away with not being honest unless you really stay on top of them.

Hello,
we are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your order.

We would like to clarify that on the product page it is clearly stated that the NAD HTR8 remote has been replaced by the fully compatible original NAD HTR2 remote control, and the correct model is also shown in the product photo. Functionally, it works the same as the original HTR8, including the learning function – our technician has successfully tested this feature.

Regarding the refund – as soon as we were informed that you did not receive the full amount, we immediately corrected it and sent the rest without delay. We always aim to resolve any issues fairly and as quickly as possible.

We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we will continue to work on improving our communication and service.

Courier can't find my house, there's no way to contact them to help them

I'm trying to get a package delivered. The courier apparently makes three attempts and then returns the package to the sender.

The problem is that they're not coming to my house. The photo 'proof' of attempted deliver and GPS data clearly show that the address is correct on the package, but the courier was on a different street, a hundred metres or so away. Our street is perfectly well signposted and we have a clearly visible house number. The courier just can't find it.

There's no way to get the courier to contact you for help finding your house.

I can't divert it to a parcel shop, either. I've tried contacting customer service, but there's no way to make contact.

This is very frustrating because as much as I try, I can't do anything to get my package delivered. I just have to wait for the courier to claim to have attempted delivery three times and give up.

In response to EVRI's reply below. I have requested a call back multiple times through both the website chatbot and by calling on the phone. I haven't had a call back despite numerous request.

Review of Cater Allen

Tried using CA for 18 months for business banking. It's a shame, but they're just not competitive.

I've used Cater Allen for business banking for about 18 months and now I'm closing the account and switching to a different provider. I would advise against using them because their service just isn't what it needs to be.

From the beginning, CA have been difficult to work with. It took months to set up the banking feed into my accounting software, which led to lots of manual and unnecessary work for me.

I had high hopes and held on for the new banking website. Unfortunately, it's a mess. The login procedure is time consuming and difficult. You might think that's a necessary evil because of security, but unfortunately, they're not following best security practice. The user journeys are poorly thought out, which is why people in reviews are complaining that they can't find anything. Then there's the problem with functionality just not working. Since last week I tried to cancel a standing order online several times. In the end, I had to give up on the website and call them to get it sorted.

CA's big thing is that they don't charge banking fees. That sounds good on the face of it, but that saving is massively outweighed by the amount of time you spend dealing with problems. There are also other no-fee options out there.

There have been improvements. Recently, they've been able to do same day banking transfers online. Unfortunately, they're a few years behind the curve on this and while I wish them the best and hope that they can up their game, progress is too slow. With the serious mistakes that they've made with the new website, it looks like it'll be years before they're worth considering as a business bank.

It's a shame, but there are much better, more functional and more secure banking options available.
