An update concerning FireAngel detectors

An update to my last review concerning the failure of detectors. since the last review another detector has failed due to battery issues, again only 7 weeks old and just two days after the last one. Finally received a reply from fireangel which has explained to me that the failures are a result of dust, it has been suggested to me that they should be vacuumed. I have never heard so much rubbish and received such poor customer service as this, the whole system is now only just over 7 weeks and two failed detectors which is caused apparently by dust. If my email had been read properly then maybe a more constructive suggestion would have been provided. To add to the frustration after contacting B&Q regarding this explaining how I had returned one to the store and also contacted fireangel over another failure their customer service suggested I contact fireangel and kindly provided me with contact details as well as the address of the B&Q store beside me. Yet another customer service that doesn't read a word, providing me details for a company they knew I had already contacted and address for a store they knew I had purchased from. UPDATE TO THIS: returned all devices back to B&Q and received a full refund. Unfortunately FireAngel we’re of no help right to the end hence the reason for 1 star, will never purchase anything from this brand again.

Positive update to a bad purchase

Purchased 6 fireangel detectors and two other compatible devices 6 weeks ago, since then its been false alarms and faults. had to return one 2 days ago because the 10 year battery lasted 6 weeks, since then another has failed with the same issue. tried to contact fireangel many times and failed. so fed up with sleepless nights, false alarms and failures. contacted B&Q this morning as my wife received a bit of interrogating on returning the last failed device, really had enough of the whole system and the unreliability which considering this is safety critical equipment it should be in working order. so after spending £500 on what was advised to me as top quality product by a B&Q store assistant you would think that after only 6 weeks of having the faulty system we would return the goods and receive a full refund. No ! that's not the case, after being diplomatic and trying to hold back the anger and frustration we have been offered a gesture of good will. My next visit to the store C/W faulty goods will not end with a gesture of good will, I started thinking if only I had researched the fireangel brand before as their reviews are horrendous but after reading B&Q reviews it seems I shouldn't have entertained any of the two. This is a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing fireangel detectors; Use another brand to keep your family safe. As for purchasing from B&Q I would think again! I don't know why companies like this bother having customer service, it serves no purpose whatsoever. should my visit to the store end with no refund I will be seeking legal advice, maybe fireangel are the manufacturer of the faulty equipment but B&Q are the ones selling therefor should an emergency situation occur I would imagine there is liability there. However that does not make it any better regardless of who is at fault, I will have no alternative than to install some other brand to ensure the safety of my family. The emails I have between myself and customer services, the history of failures logged in the app on my phone and the receipts with returns of various faulty equipment. This does not change a thing when it comes to safety, a refund or continual swapping of failed detectors for new doesn't change the fact that these detectors are inadequate regardless of BS numbers/kitemarks or CE markings. Just to make things clear I list the following units within the system; 1 Gateway, 1 Alarm control unit, 2 smoke alarms, 2 heat alarms and 2 CO alarms. These are all hardwired other than the CO detectors however all are interlinked and all have 10 year battery backup, don't make the same mistake as me buying fireangel and avoid purchasing from B&Q. SINCE THIS I HAVE RECEIVED A FULL REFUND FROM B&Q. It’s a pity customer services hadn’t just agreed to full refund with having to go through this but thankfully it was granted when enquiring at the store.

£600 for unreliability and frustration.

I purchased 8 detectors in total about 6 weeks ago from B&Q, I spent a whopping £600 which you would think would be more than enough for quality. Well I have to say it’s been the complete opposite, I am absolutely disgusted with these detectors. I went the full hog as I work away and wanted to ensure my family were in safe hands, I gave me a good feeling purchasing what I thought was the best in fire safety. I had previous wired battery backup detectors before so this was to be a straight swap after checking the cable size was still compatible and wired correctly back to the consumer board. Connected everything as instructions, the gateway, two heat, two CO, two fire and the stand alone silence/test box. First night after setup was fine then a few nights later at various early hours of the morning they would activate, this became frequent and extremely frustrating as it is impossible to talk to anyone at FireAngel although it advertises great customer support. I had to go away and obviously apprehensive due to the unreliability of these detectors but to my amazement I learned that for 3 weeks they hadn’t made a sound, since then unfortunately the heat detector in the kitchen has started to alarm every 40 seconds which apparently is a battery issue. As we both have the app I am also able to access the status and receive notifications such as this. The app shows a red ! Next to the detector and when I view the status it shows “Main battery low” how could it possibly be low ? It’s 6 weeks old and hard wired. My family are near tearing their hair out with this and because FireAngel support is an absolute joke they are stuck with it, a system that is a fortunes worth and completely unreliable. The 10 year lithium battery is useless because you can’t even reset it by removing and installing, the fact that they are also wired means she can’t even take them down a throw them into the garden. THIS IS A WARNING: to anyone out their that is thinking of changing their detectors for new, replacing or installing for the first time - STAY AWAY FROM FIREANGEL, don’t make the same mistake many have including myself, purchase a brand the major electrical companies use. I am going to try to return the detectors to B&Q but who knows where that will end, if the whole network hadn’t cost £600 I would have great pleasure taking a hammer to the lot of them but must try B&Q first.
Don’t make the mistake I have made, keep your family safe using a different brand.

Horrendously incompetent and unprofessional delivery firm.

Absolutely the worst delivery company I have ever had to deal with. Received a date and time slot for delivery so managed to wangle the afternoon off to ensure someone was there to receive, waited all afternoon and nothing arrived yet this tracking option they give you told me he was literally 1KM from my home. So tried to contact them next day to ask what the situation was but not only are they the worst delivery company but they must already know that as you are unable to talk to anyone other than an automated voice which after asking to key in your tracking number cuts you off. Tried to message them because they say they will get back to you within six hours which still nobody has done, so contacted the company which I purchased the goods from and was told that they had spoken to DX who said it would arrive the next day. So from 3 o’clock and here we are again, another message followed by email to say it would be delivered today and again another time slot. Well again I managed to get the afternoon off for a complete waste of time as it still hasn’t arrived, way past the time slot and near enough dinner time so again I have contacted the purchase company to ask why this has happened again. I have been told that it could still arrive today but personally after reading the horrendous reviews about DX delivery I’d be very surprised, unfortunately Blinds Direct use this delivery shambles so if you want to avoid long delays and frustration I’d avoid both DX delivery and Blinds Direct. I have mentioned this to Blinds Direct and the fact that they are using a very unreliable delivery service which would most certainly make me avoid purchasing in the future, I think Blinds Direct were easy and straightforward to deal with but let down by an unprofessional 3rd party which in my opinion will damage Blinds Direct reputation which is a shame.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service, easy ordering and extremely fast delivery. Customer care called to say the next day delivery wasn’t available and refunded the extra I had payed, the wood stain still arrived the day after. No complaints whatsoever, tried patch test as suggested and the driftwood grey was perfect just applied once. Used a water based polyurethane two pack to complete the flooring and both completely compatible although not from the same business, floor looks stunning and couldn’t be happier.

Straight forward ordering and speedy delivery, only issue I have is one particular router cutter I had purchased was not sealed. The box had been opened which spending near £100 on a router bit you'd expect the box to have never been opened, seems trivial but not what you expect buying anything new regardless of the price.
