I am glad I switched from Santander to First Direct. Anyone thinking of switching should beware and avoid the mistake I made: to qualify for the £175 joining bonus, you have to make 5 payments with the debit card in some 45 days of opening the account. Cash withdrawals from an ATM, DO NOT COUNT!
