I had a terrible experience with…

I had a terrible experience with customer service at this shop. The woman behind the counter was rude and unhelpful. I returned a Halloween costume for my daughter, still in the packaging, but because I didn’t have the receipt, she refused to accept the return, even though I showed proof of purchase on my banking app. I recommend avoiding this shop. Based on other reviews, it's clear that she should not be in customer service.

Extremely Disappointing Experience

I am very disappointed with my experience ordering from Hollywood UK Costumes. Before placing my order, I carefully measured myself according to the size guide provided specifically for the costume I was purchasing. When it arrived, the costume was far too small despite following their instructions exactly.

When I contacted their customer service team, I was told that the measurements come directly from their supplier — meaning they clearly don’t verify or check the accuracy of the sizing information they publish. This makes their product listings misleading and unreliable.

To make matters worse, I had to return the item at my own cost of £6.90, even though the sizing issue was not my fault. I’ve sent three separate emails requesting a refund of the return postage, and they have since stopped responding altogether.

This is unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. The lack of accountability and poor customer service have left me extremely frustrated. I strongly advise others to avoid shopping with Hollywood UK Costumes to save themselves the same trouble.

Disappointing service!

More expensive than amazon

More expensive than amazon, one if the item was not shipped and they sent everything else without giving the choice of cancelling the order, they instead refunded the missing item (which appeared in stock on the website).

No refunds policy, rude staff and overpriced balloons

*** BOURNEMOUTH STORE**
Purchased a large dinosaur balloon for my son's birthday, paid £16 which I thought was a lot but had left it late to get a balloon. Took straight home, less then a 10 mins drive and it had popped assuming due to the heat even though was in an air conditioned car. Took straight back to the shop to be told they don't have a refund policy and unable to do anything. She called a colleague who advised the same and as the balloon wasn't faulty in the shop they can't do anything & that they had advised due to the heat fluctuations from the store to outside the balloon might deflate, but I was not expecting it to pop within a short amount of time!! No exchange or apology was offered, rude women, bad attitude, I have left extremely disappointed, upset and out pocket! Use the card factory in future better service, better quality balloon & priced.
***Avoid Hollywood Fancy Dress at all costs!!***

I went in to the Poole store ,last week weekend ,to enquiring about the Rather cool looking pigeon masks in the window ,I was told come back on a week day I did
Firstly he on his mobile phone ,totally ignored he had a customer ,then so arrogant it's the weekend I don't have the key ,no it's Friday it's a business working day
His actions cost a sale worth £15.99 ,I walk out disgust

Southampton shop. Served by Poison Ivy

I’ve used this shop a few times now it’s always a pleasure to shop with them. The staff are very helpful but never pushy. The shop is well organised with stock, clean and tidy. Parking has never been a problem as there’s plenty of spaces outside.

Shocking!Avoid

Shocking!! Ordered some items to receive an email to advise that one of the items I ordered was out of stock. Telephoned and was advised that they would email some pictures of what they had. Didn’t receive the email with the alternatives just an email saying they had actually sold out of everything I had ordered and they would issue a refund (too right they will) personally I would avoid this company. I certainly won’t be using them again!!! Very badly managed

Rude customer service

The young gentleman who served me at the till , I think his name was Paul, had a very rude and disrespectful attitude towards as I was just trying to purchase my Christmas appliances. I'm very upset with the customer service and I'm going to have to find a new ship to look in for my nest Christmas hall

Great company!

Great company! Item arrived really quickly as described, albeit damaged during Royal Mail transit. However this was quickly remedied after contacting their awesome customer services team via email, who were super helpful and quickly arranged a replacement free of charge. Highly recommended.

Ordered Coloured Contact Lenses

Ordered my item late on the Wednesday evening with express delivery. Was notified when it shipped, complete with tracking number and received goods today. Items were exactly as described and I wouldn't hesitate to order again.

HIGH DEMAND - BUT VERY HELPFUL

Unfortunately due to high demand my item wasn't dispatched intime for my party - HOWEVER it's great that Hollywood answer the phone and reply to issues unline an awful lot of online suppliers

POOLE STORE

POOLE STORE: The male member of staff was very helpful at finding me the outfit on the Thursday. Sadly, they could not be worn for the party, therefore, I tried to return the items on Tuesday but the lady in the store said 'we do not accept returns'. There are no signs stating this and she just said 'sorry, but we only have to tell you at the till if you ask. If you want to order anything just use the online service as there are 'Distance Selling Regulations' that have to be followed regardless of what they say, hence you should always be given a refund!

Not even 1 star to be honest

Not even 1 star to be honest. Brought a Halloween outfit, couldn't try it on, asked if I could bring it back, told no refund but could exchange or credit note will be offered. Brought it back as an awful costume, now told I couldn't have either of the things initially told to me, and it was my fault as I didn't ask refund policy (I did). Such rude staff and the so called "head office" were just as useless. So shocked, I've shopped there before with no issue. Will not waste a penny more there!

Rude Staff/ Awful Company

Twice I've tried to purchase an outfit for separate occasions and the experience has been woeful both times.

The staff are rude and not helpful, when I called to see if an item was in stock and told it was not available, I asked for some guidance on what outfits were in stock. Staff didn't care or try to help just said it was their issue and couldn't get off the phone quick enough.

Disgusting customer service from a local company, avoid at all costs.

Party shop but sullen staff!

It's a party shop but every time I go in I am shocked with the sullenness of the staff, one in particular is consistently misrible. Yesterday she was stomping around, huffing and puffing I decided not to ask my question and left empty handed. The shop was really messy, lots of stuff thrown into corners or just lying on the floor which was probably why I couldn't find anything. So I left and ordered on Amazon. It's hard to support your local shop when the staff clearly are not interested in their customers or their job!

AWFUL - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Awful company , wish I could give no stars! I placed an order a week before Halloween and paid extra for express delivery to make sure it arrived in plenty of time. No sign of order by Halloween so phoned the company numerous times but got no reply. I left voicemails but no-one bothered to reply. I also sent an email which was also ignored. Halloween costume plans runied as no time to get anything else delivered in time. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering as it seems they make a habit of awful cusomer service and non delivery or orders. Shame on you Hollywood Fancy dress, you need to get your act in gear and stop letting people down. Stop taking orders if your not organised enough to fulfil them !! I realise Halloween is a busy time of year but dont allow the orders to be placed if your not willing to work your butts off to get them out to customers. Bad management!!

Awful experience & disgusting…

Awful experience & disgusting management in the Poole Dolphin shop. Went to return an item as I didn't need it. Was told no refunds or store credit. I obviously questioned this as it doesn't sound right. I then got accused of stealing it as I didn't have a receipt or bag... (never was given a receipt after my purchase) So the manager told the security to radio for police. I had my 6 year old boy with me that got very upset with this and started to cry at the idea of me being arrested. I told the little manager to check his security camera to either see me make the purchase the day before, or to see me walking into the store to make my return. He told me "I don't give a f---... Making a scene now with everyone watching and my little boy nervous and crying his eyes out. I eventually left after the little manager tried to stop me. Didn't get my refund or exchange, and took a good hour to calm down my son. Disgusting customer service. Will never use or recommend to anyone.

Rude staff

Rude staff! It's my daughters first time trick or treating and came to this shop to collect a kids wig to finish my 4 year old daughters outfit as a witch. There was a big que going in which I didn't mind and it went down quite quick very very busy inside. I searched around everywhere with my daughter but thought maybe they can help us at the till. The que for the till was very long through to the back of the shop but we waited patiently to then be told the wigs should be over in the corner and hush away. I get that it's busy in there as its a day before Halloween but the service was useless and rude too! I'm the end I walked back over to the kids section couldn't find the wig that said was in stock online and wasn't there so I just had to find an adults one which wasn't quite what I wanted but it was OK. I then qued up again and asked the other till lady if they have any black hair spray and she just quickly said no we've sold out rudely again this lady was rude too. It wouldn't of hurt for someone to help in the store but no one did so Very disappointed.

Avoid avoid avoid!!!

I went here for a last minute Halloween costume and I couldn’t decide between 2 outfits. There were no changing rooms in the store. So I asked the cashier if i could purchase them both, go home and return the one I didn’t want. They said it was no problem. Also there is an underage CHILD working in this shop selling eye contacts and using the tills/credit card machines!! I went back the next day to return the one outfit and they refused a refund. I tried to explain the cashier yesterday had said it was possible. I got a curt response “exchanges only” and she rolled her eyes. I asked why this was not advertised anywhere in the store and she wouldn’t answer me. There was no customer service or politeness. If anything the cashier looked angry at me for holding up the queue. Absolutely disgusted with the experience. They were also selling fireworks to clearly young adults without IDing them!!
