One staff member was rude, reimbursed for deposit
I had a very disappointing experience with Aquarius Car Hire. Before booking, the company was very prompt with their email replies, which gave me confidence in using their service. We had agreed by email to meet at 12:00 for my rental, but the representative did not arrive until 1:00pm. This delay caused me to miss pre-booked events on the first day of my holiday.
At 12:14, after emailing the office, I received a reply saying: “Our representative is finishing a rental nearby, so please wait in front of the office. By the time you receive this message, they should already be there or about to arrive.” Despite this assurance, the representative only arrived 45 minutes later.
By around 12:30, even the staff at the neighbouring rental desk grew concerned with how long I had been waiting and kindly offered to call the office for me — not once, but twice — since I had no minutes to call myself. This shows how excessive and noticeable the delay really was.
When the representative eventually arrived, I explained that I was now very late and needed to leave, as I no longer trusted their company to provide good service after failing to meet the agreed time. Instead of being understanding, he was extremely rude — telling me “you will not be reimbursed for your deposit anyways” and even saying “you’re not a good person.” This was both unprofessional and upsetting.
Because of the delay and poor treatment, I had no choice but to rent from another company at a higher cost. I had already paid a €50 deposit to Aquarius, but despite them not keeping to the agreed time, I have not been reimbursed. I have also emailed the office twice over two days to resolve the issue, but have received no response. This is also very disappointing as their replies were very fast before this issue.
Unfortunately, the lack of reliability, misleading communication, rude behavior, and complete unresponsiveness after the issue left a very negative impression. If any part of this review is inaccurate, I would welcome the company to contact me directly to clarify or explain the situation.
Update: i have been contacted by the company and they have reimbursed me for the deposit.
