UC Health's TRD/Spravato Psych Dept
This is regarding UC Health's TRD (Treatment Resistant Depression/Spravato/Ketamine) Psychiatry Department:
UC Health's TRD department just informed me they have a "5-7 month" waiting period with "70 patients" ahead of me. I wanted to voice my opinion that this definitely does not meet the critical needs of TRD patients w suicidal ideations needing immediate intervention. In fact it falls extremely -and shamefully- short of that expectation. I ***STRONGLY*** recommend patients go to my Spravato clinic "New Pathways" in Montgomery. They are EXTREMELY efficient, expedient, compassionate, & professional. It is a FANTASTIC spravato clinic! I was able to get an initial appt within 7-10 days & was able to start my Spravato TX within another 7-10 days. (Yes they take insurance.) I cannot say enough good things about the "New Pathways" clinic. To make acutely-ill TRD pts w suicidal ideations wait 5-7 months is inexcusably abhorrent. I've had 67 life-changing & life-saving Spravato TXs over 2 years. And I can say w certainty that some of those 70 suicidal TRD waiting-list patients may die waiting 5-7 months at UC Health. I STRONGLY recommend New Pathways over UC Health for this particular TRD condition & treatment. Fortunately my TRD is well-managed at this time so I have chosen to stop my spravato TXs for now. But I take great comfort in knowing that should my TRD flare/exacerbate in the future, I know I could immediately get back in at New Pathways & quickly resume my spravato TXs within 10 days.
I just wanted to share my opinion on this critically important matter.
Over billing issues
My wife went to the urgent care to get a simple X-ray after a fall. They told her they had a staffing issue and she’d have to go to the main hospital building to get it done. Once there they wouldn’t see her unless she electronically signed something but they refused to show her what she was supposedly signing. Literally handed her a signature pad with no screen and no ability to read anything. After getting an x-ray and being there less than an hour they sent a bill for over $5,000!!!! For an x-ray only! And all because they were improperly staffed at the urgent clinic. Now we’re likely to have to get a lawyer to deal with this outrageous situation.
If I could give ZERO ratings I would
If I could give ZERO ratings I would. This is by far the WORST network of physicians, I've dealt with. The NORTHFIELD location has the worst network of doctors and the WORST customer Service EVER!! Do not go to the NORTHFIELD location if you are looking for doctor that is professional, has good etiquette and good communication skills, this office is NOT for you. I've seen both, Leslie Ann Thomas and Ryan Patrick Meintz and didn't feel a connection with either of them. Very un responsive to medication refills and didn't seem to connect well in general. I've missed two appointments because I feel that uncomfortable.
They won't let you switch doctor's without one of their approvals. Which is insane. You have to go outside of the network all together, which is what I'm looking to do. Not sure if they treat all patients like this but my experience has been problematic from the start. My insurance changed a year ago and switching doctor's is the worst especially when they are just in it for the pay check
Will Die if come here for Emergency
There’s 4 people in the waiting room and they haven’t seen a single person back. Three people left from having to wait so long, they have over 10 nurses or staff in the back and they’re going as slow as possible even with incoming patients making complaints and inquiries about the time it’s taking. Every single patient in waiting room had done triage but they won’t let anyone know how long it’s taking or why they’re not helping anyone. Been here for over 3 hours now and have had to step outside to breathe or get air because they won’t help you. Please don’t come here if you want to receive medical care, they don’t care about you and you will most definitely die if you have a serious emergency here.
UC Health at 64th and Mcintyre in…
UC Health at 64th and Mcintyre in Arvada. I saw physician assistant, Jessica. My husband and I were VERY unimpressed with her. I was the patient and my husband was the first one to start, let's go! I felt she did not listen! She appeared and sounded as though she judged all things by statistics and a box she put patients in. When we were leaving I told her perhaps she might consider that people she may see may have a medical background of experience and education. Her response was, "I treated you by your appearance". If I should EVER need to choose an UC facility would walk out before I would see her. Please, if you are in the medical field realize those who walk in to ser you, may be sick and not look their best!!!! I fully felt she was on her "presentation speech" of info, statistics and did not listen. We are all human beings and experts of what our symptoms are! Statictistics have their place and do not all apply to every single situation!
This written from an older EMT, as a previouswife of a physcian and worked in PSL on inpatients floors for 10 years.
I took my brother to UCHealth Longs…
I took my brother to UCHealth Longs Peak hospital because he couldn't breath I was trying to tell my brother what the resportory had to do but she keep holding up her hand at me but my brother don't always understand what they are saying to him they said I was stress him out and made me leave the room I went back to tell him I called his kids and they said I was going to stress him out again that they was going to take me to a different waiting area or I need to go home if I couldn't be with my brother I was going home I hope they are proud of the way the treat people because my brother didn't want me to leave. I ever go to the ER I will never let that charge nurse and a few other work on me of be any where near me even on my death bed.
Stay away. Far away.
My experience with UC Health has been deeply disappointing and concerning. What stands out most is their billing practices, which I found to be aggressive and potentially predatory.
The most egregious example was when I dropped off a basic lab test at my primary care physician's office. Without any prior warning or explanation, I received a bill for nearly $1,500, categorized as "outpatient hospital laboratory services." This type of unexpected charge seems designed to blindside patients who are simply trying to receive routine medical care.
In my interactions with them, I've found that attempting to dispute or question these charges is futile. They appear uninterested in addressing billing concerns or correcting potential errors, even when the charges seem questionable or potentially improper.
Based on my experience, UC Health seems to prioritize revenue generation over patient care and transparency. Their practices represent everything that's wrong with our healthcare system – focusing on maximizing charges rather than providing accessible, affordable care.
For your own financial well-being, I strongly recommend seeking medical care elsewhere. The stress and financial burden of dealing with their billing department simply isn't worth it.
1/5 stars
UCHealth Stapleton - no interest in care…
UCHealth Stapleton is only interested in how much money they can make and has no interest in your care. Dr. Mark Wisthoff was never available and when I called in an urgent situation they said he had 48 hours to get back to me. The office manager was as rude as anyone can be. Care is not their primary objective. DO NOT go to UCHealth if you really need care.
Endoscopy Lab
On Aug 12, I went for a routine Endoscopy which was probably not needed in the first place since my symptoms were not serious, but was led to believe this was for determining whether I needed surgery, which was the process 5-6 years ago. Which I later I did require and which was immediately successful. That was Rose Medical Center, not UC Health. At this latest procedure, they not only explored but went ahead with a procedure that has caused more discomfort and concern than when I went in.
Here's two things to know:
1. Calls to reach the lab have been complictaed and time consuming, getting told different numbers, pushing too many numbers and only being able to speak with an intermediary to the providing doctor who then gives his advice back to me through the assisitant. That, of course, leads to absolutely no immediate feed back which starts the entire mess of the commuciaction process of retruning messages. Awful system.
2. But here's the bottom line: I believe they "fixed" something that did not fixing and. in doing so, created medical issues that I NEVER , EVER had before.
Heath doesnt matter..
Unfortunately ive had to utilize many of the uc health services. I recently switched to UC Health, worst mistake i ever made. If your health is important to you find another cause its not to them. They even acknowledged they didnt have staff to care and suggested i go to Penrose (horrible ratings).
UC Health does not value their patrons.
We have been patients of UC Health for 5 years and recently have been in regular contact with the providers (ACL surgery, PT etc over the last 2 years). We just received a letter from their attorney’s office for 2 bills that were not paid…I am shocked they would turn us over to an attorney versus just calling us or asking us in person! No doubt there could have been a problem with our secondary insurance, but a charge from 2 years ago without a phone call? Unacceptable, we have a zero balance on our account from the last year of being a patient.
Almost flashed to ER floor
Dr. Christina Dunn in the UCHealth in Fort Collins, CO almost flashed my chest to the whole ER floor, hardly apologized.
I I could leave 0 stars I would due to…
I I could leave 0 stars I would due to the fact I had my mother in this hospital and the staff and doctors were completely rude to my mother when she is sickly highly recommend going to a different hospital yes theirs some good people but even I went here and they were rude when I was being nice and respectful. Please train your staff to be nicer to the patients.
3rd world healthcare in Colorado
This organization makes it way too difficult to get care in any way. I tried making an appointment with one of their providers and I had a referral. They lost the referral and I had to get another one. They were so rude about it. They then told me that I couldn't get an appointment for 3 weeks and if I didn't want that one, I would have to wait 2 1/2 more months. I explained that I also needed a biopsy and could I get that scheduled sooner. The employee tells me that the doctor performs the biopsy, so I can't get one for several months. I questioned this because a biopsy is usually considered more urgent. She mocked me and said people don't die of thyroid cancer "for years". This is so bizarre to me. I was able to get a biopsy on my breast in an imaging center and all the research I've done indicates that a radiologist, not an endocrinologist, performs the biopsy. So, I tell her this and she admits she just made it up. You can't get help here.
UCHealth Brain and Spine Clinic
UCHealth Brain and Spine Clinic Dr Ross was very good, knowledgeable and thorough. The back office staff (scheduling) is incompetent (uncommunicative). Pain shot was supposed to be scheduled in 2-3 weeks. It has been 6 weeks and you cannot speak to anyone.
Furious and in PAIN and nothing scheduled!!!
After my doctor's preferred Imaging said they didn't accept my insurance and 6 days later when I learned it was my responsibility to find Imaging even though they coordinated the first one, I called UCHealth. I explained how my Imaging had already been delayed by 8 days and that I needed MRI's for neck, lower lumbar, knees and an X-ray for my hip. I waited online while they called my doctor to fax details and was assured that the scheduler would take a special interest in following up with the approval process since I was in pain but it may take up to 5 days before we get back to you. Okay, and BTW can you also schedule me for a Mammogram?
8 days later, the scheduler calls me back about me getting a Mammogram and I said okay but what about my MRI's & X-ray? ...Ahh that was for your... back? My response, Neck, lower back, knees and hip. Remember you had to have the Dr. fax the order to you? ...Ahh I guess I forgot all about that... It's been 18 days now since my orig Dr. appt and still no MRI's! Furious and in PAIN!!!
Great and clean hospital- Dr. Phinney is amazing! Nursing staff lacks bed side manners
Great and clean hospital! I recently rec'vd a hernia repair surgery through Dr. Phinney. He's truly an amazing, intelligent, kind, warming soul and overall terrific Doctor (Thanks Doctor). Glad he did my repair, considering I had no idea what to expect. The 2 stars are more focused on the Pre-op Nurses whom lack bed side manners, sympathy and empathy. IV scare me, I told them- they didn't really take that into consideration on their approach giving me an IV. I had several nurses who could not insert an IV into me (I'm one skinny girl) and treated me as if I was a game. My "main nurse" poke me twice and on the second time hit a valve? She didn't even care (my bruise from that took days to heal). Long story short, I had 4 nurses who attempted inserting an IV into me. I told them based on what I was going through at the time (being poked and poked and poked) I rather have a baby (I've had 4- they didn't understand that comparison of course). Young nurses who lack the sympathy/empathy dept and professionalism dept. With that being said, my Doctor made up for my overall experience. I hope the Pre-Op manager reads this review, and takes into heart on coaching their young nursing staff...
UC Health Internal Medicine on Garfield Office Staff
We had an appointment for 8:00.am with Dr. Cowley. There was a snow storm so we left with twice the amount of time allowed for driving. Saw that we were going to be late, so we called the office. The office staff said thank you for calling! We arrived 20 minutes late. The person at the desk said, "Sorry, you need to reschedule because you are late." This was a followup appointment, scheduled by the nurse in this office, from an ER visit and Urgent Care visit for severe pain lasting over two weeks. There was absolutely no sympathy or accommodation made, even though the desk clerk and the office manager could see my husband in PAIN and EXTREME SHORTNESS OF BREATH, aggravated by the office canceling our appointment. We asked if they could ASK Dr. Cowley if he could still see us, and they said they had already asked the provider. They needed to stick to their strict policy of thirty minutes visits and we should have been aware of the late policy. We are not even sure if Dr. Cowley was in the office, as most traffic in the area was delayed. The staff offered a wheelchair to help my husband get back to his vehicle in the handicap spot, so they clearly recognized he was in distress. We are now seeking a primary care doctor in a different office and will not return to this one. The waiting room and the care rooms that we could see were empty.
Untrustworthy
I went in to have the urgent care to find out why my kidneys were causing me excruciating pain. He performed a series of tests and reported there was nothing wrong with me. He was friendly but unwilling to even make an attempt at trying anything outside of these blood and urine tests. He did nothing for me. "Fortunately", I was covered by my health insurance (Anthem/BCBS); which means they covered less than half of my bill. I would have paid the rest, but the UC"Health billing department didn't contact me to let me know; no voicemail, no email, no bill in the mail. Months later, I get a bill in the mail from a collection agency. So, I was not helped, I was not told I had a bill for not being helped, and now I have to deal with a collection agency. If you want someone to smile at you and tell you nothing is wrong with you as you suffer in pain and then send your bill straight to a collection agency, UCHealth is the place to go; friendly, incompetent, and thieving. The word perfidious comes to mind. Now, I get to wait for Susan B. to tell me that she's sorry they didn't meet my expectations and that I can contact billing or their patient advocates. For what? More smiles and incompetence? Just save yourself the hassle. Go look in the mirror, smile, tell yourself to ignore your pain, tell yourself that nothing is wrong, and save yourself the money and aggravation.
Good Service, Deceptive Billing
Agreed with the note left earlier - the actual care is good, but the financial/billing policies are deceptive.
