Venterra Realty

My organization, a medium-sized company called Venterra, used SMTP.com as our external email sending provider for many years without incident. They offer great reporting, a simple but powerful UI, competitive rates, and prompt, knowledgeable support. As an infrastructure engineer with 20 years of experience, I would recommend their service to any small to medium-sized company. No fuss, no hassle, 10/10 stars.

tried to cancel

tried to cancel, could not find how to cancel, nor downgrade to free whilst developing a product. had to email them and they had the audacity to tell me that I had to give them 30 days notice, after spending just as long looking for how to cancel.

Terrible service

My domain had a leak with spammers for 10 days, which led to my email sending out 30 mails a day. They suddenty blocked my account and told me nothing was to do about it because I was cold emailing. No will to let me explain what happened at all, and said no one in the company can help.

Thank you for your feedback. At SMTP.com, we take any activity that appears to violate CAN-SPAM regulations or reflects poor email practices very seriously. I'm sure you can appreciate our decision to urgently suspend sending in cases where there are signs of compromised activity, such as the one you described, to protect both your domain reputation and our broader sending infrastructure.

That said, we are committed to supporting our customers wherever possible. If you believe this was due to unauthorized activity or a security issue, we’d like to take a closer look and help where we can.

Please feel free to reach out to our team at clientservices@smtp.com with:

A brief description of what occurred

Any supporting proof of the suspected hacking

A few suggested dates and times for a call

A supervisor will be happy to review the situation with you and explore a path forward.

We appreciate your understanding and hope to resolve this to your satisfaction.

Best regards,
The SMTP.com Team

Very Bad Service & policy

We used their email service for 5-6 days, but their system was unable to deliver emails to our clients' inboxes. So, we decided to cancel it. However, their website does not provide any option to remove the saved card or cancel the package.

I then opened a support ticket requesting account closure, but they responded that, according to their policy, the service must remain active and unused for at least one month before cancellation — which is an unreasonable rule, especially given the poor quality of their service. I only used the service for about 5–6 days, and yet they still don't allow the removal of the card from their platform.

Hi Sonu Simon.

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve decided to cancel, and we understand your disappointment.

We have issued a refund for the $30 that was communicated as charged in error. It’s unfortunate that we did not get a chance to resolve this with you directly as we always aim to resolve concerns fairly and respectfully.

To clarify, our cancellation policy does not require an account to remain "active and unused for at least one month." Instead, we operate on a 30-day notice period, which is standard practice across the industry. This policy is outlined during sign-up and we can see it was accepted when you accepted the SMTP Terms & Conditions.

We regret that the service didn’t meet your expectations during the first few days. Our team is always available to troubleshoot deliverability issues, and we would have welcomed the opportunity to assist you further.

Thank you for your feedback - we take it seriously and are using it to make meaningful improvements. If there’s anything further we can do, please don’t hesitate to reach out at support@smtp.com

Best regards,
SMTP Support Team

Do not use for Wordpress if at all.

The smtp service itself has intermittent failures that are reluctantly admitted after battering down the support door several times to find out why sites aren't sending emails. Worse still they have a plugin that was heartily sold to me as the Wordpress plugin when I started with them - this was supported gingerly at first, then, it still being on version 1 was entirely disowned by them - despite the plugin having all their branding and their site details and being published and distributed on the Wordpress platforms ... by them. They simply deny it now, having pushed me towards it and supporting it initially. This is not the best solution for Wordpress - in short it doesn't work ... use smtp2go who have their own simple plugin and a working (AND CHEAPER) service. Other solutions are out there but they involve using a 3rd party paid plugin + the SMTP service which works out at over double the price. ALSO nearly impossible to cancel, they literally make you jump through hoops, argue with you and when you explain your issue, deny it and expect you to continue with them for a paltry 5% discount that is still over double the cost of other solutions... OH AND doesn't work !!! Worse, they tie you in, despite the service having failed - they offer no complimentary service, and charge a 30 day cancellation. AVOID!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we’re genuinely sorry to hear about your experience, we wanted to take a moment to clarify a few points and provide some transparency for others who may be reading.

Firstly, we want to assure you (and others) that there is no "lock-in" with our service. As outlined in our Terms & Conditions — which were agreed to at the time of sign-up — cancellation is always possible with 30 days' notice. Your cancellation was processed in line with that, and we're sorry if that process felt frustrating at any point.
It’s also important to mention that our support team did reach out and offer further assistance, including steps to resolve the issues you reported. We absolutely understand that things may not have gone as expected, but it appeared that you were no longer open to exploring solutions together at that time.
As for the discount offered to you, it was offered in good faith as a gesture to help move things forward. It's disappointing to see that interpreted negatively as our intention was to support, not to frustrate.
Regarding the plugin with Wordpress, our team is here to help with up-to-date guidance anytime.

We’re truly sorry that things didn’t work out this time, and we respect your decision. You’re absolutely welcome back in the future; and if you ever choose to return, we’d be glad to set you up with a dedicated onboarding specialist to ensure everything runs smoothly from the start.

Wishing you all the best with your new provider,
The SMTP.com Team

Smooth experience

The set-up process was very smooth and straight forward with wonderful assistance from their team. I average around 600+ emails monthly as someone who frequently communicates with clients and sends out financial statements. I have had no problems to date with their services.

Don't use these guys

Don't use these guys. Their SMTP delivery service is unreliable. I used them for six months and had at least three issues with deliveries. You're not able to cancel on their site but they make you go through a service call. Unprofessional.

We signed up for SMTP.com services to…

We signed up for SMTP.com services to serve as a relay for an on-prem exchange server, believing that it would offer a solid relay service for outgoing mail, using IPs that are actively monitored and managed. Nothing could be further from the truth, within a week IPs within the subnet they assigned us were in several RBLs, and they did nothign to remediate the issue. We opened a ticket and it took a week and a half to receive an actual repsonse, the response was to assign us a new IP but within a day it too was listed in a RBL.

Why pay them money, when they don't monitor their IPS and networks for listing in RBLs? When they offer very little support, and what they do have is so delayed.

We will be moving back to our own relay, and monitoring it with debouncer, it's far more reliable that smtp.com

The kicker, they want 30 days notice to cancel, so they ding us for an extra month of fees for nothing.

Good riddance.

We've had a great experience using…

We've had a great experience using SMTP.com for our email delivery needs. Their service is reliable, with excellent deliverability rates and consistent performance. Setting up and managing our email campaigns has been smooth, and their platform is user-friendly.

However, it's important to note that they have very strict rules regarding email lists. While this ensures high-quality email sending and compliance, it can be a challenge for those managing larger or older lists. As long as you adhere to their guidelines, though, SMTP.com is a fantastic choice for dependable email delivery.

Overall, a solid service with strong security and compliance standards—just be prepared to follow their rules carefully!

Responsive, reliable, easy to work with

Great experience working with this company. The process was smooth, and all instructions were clear and easy to follow. I didn’t encounter any issues, and everything worked as expected from the start. I can’t speak to the concerns in negative reviews, but my experience was completely positive.

Support agents were very responsive as well.

SMTP.COM works well.

I use SMTP.COM and SendGrid, and find that SMTP.COM is much simpler and less expensive, especially for wordpress sites. I have used their support and find they have been responsive. The documentation on their site is brief but informative.
